The 2019 LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™!
(Photographed below: Jeanie LoVetri)
A wonderful time was had by all! Yes, we had a full house in July at Baldwin Wallace University in Ohio during our LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™. Participants from all over the USA and Canada as well as Japan, Brazil, Sweden, Israel, and Australia came together to dig into vocal pedagogy, sing, laugh and eat pizza! Glowing, radiant, smiling faces turned into lots of hugs and friendships for new participants and great reunions from those of past years. Our experts totally blew everyone away with their wealth of knowledge and "hands-on" practical presentations. The special topics lectures on electronic amplification, special needs students, working with choruses, and college preparation for high school students were very popular. New features, such as a master class with local children and teens, and performance coaching for participants with Jeanie, were very well received.

The comment that comes up most often while we are at Baldwin Wallace is, "This is an amazing group of people!" Many participants are surprised at the open and light-hearted atmosphere in spite of the science-oriented and practical pedagogical information that is at the heart of all three levels of Somatic Voicework™. People dig into the course books and lectures and support each other in taking the tests.

We continue to grow based mostly on word-of-mouth. People often say, "This is what I have been searching for all of my professional life!" Jeanie considers this to be the highest compliment and one that makes her heart happy. We are well into planning for next summer, so please "save the dates!" We are so excited to welcome everyone to next summer's LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ from July 18th to 26th, 2020. Registration will open for that in September!
Berea, by the way, is a lovely American "small town" and the campus is truly beautiful. It is 5 minutes away from Coe lake, a nature preserve with hiking and biking paths, and is just 30 minutes from downtown Cleveland. It's also close to a number of other historic sites in Ohio, so it's well worth the trip there even for family members.

“Generic training will produce generic singing.
This is elite training for those who desire
mastery of their voice.” Jeanie LoVetri

I came to the LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ in 2017 at the suggestion of my voice teacher who taught the principles of Jeanie LoVetri’s work. As a professional singer for most of my life, the LoVetri Method freed my voice and got me into the vocal shape of my life in a healthy way. I knew that I had to dig deeper and find out what it was all about. The 2017 institute marked the beginning of an amazing discovery of the science, heart, and the soul of singing.

My growing student roster and deep desire to “first do no harm” led me to the 2019 institute as a reviewer. I didn’t think that the experience could get any better than before, but it did, and for many reasons. First and foremost was the invaluable time listening to and watching Jeanie LoVetri as she laid her decades of research, knowledge and experience as a singer and teacher of all genres into my hands. As if that wasn’t enough, Jeanie put together an elite team of medical health professionals and contemporary commercial music (CCM) industry leaders from which to learn the latest in medical science as it relates to the demands on not only our voices, but our bodies as a whole. This full body holistic approach to singing and teaching singing has led to breakthroughs for myself and for my students.

The course work itself offers the unparalleled breakout sessions where you get to put all of your acquired knowledge into practical “hands on” training. These sessions were fun and revelatory as we observed the Somatic Voicework™ faculty teach and as attendees taught each other using the principles of the LoVetri method in a small intimate setting. This work prepares you to go back home and teach your students in an organized and impactful way.

The 2019 institute brought the addition of multiple master classes from vocal health to soul music pedagogy. This year I chose to attend, Soul Ingredients® with Dr. Trineice Robinson-Martin. Having sung soul music all my life and being asked to “teach me to sing like that” seemed like a tall order. However, Dr. Trineice, the first person to receive a doctorate in Gospel music in the world, put words and methodology to singing my soul and it was life changing for me. It will be life changing for my students as well.

You will not find a more loving, accepting, open and generous atmosphere in which to learn. I can’t stress enough the value in coming back to the Somatic Voicework Institute for a second time as a reviewer. I was able to absorb and glean so much more from the course work and practical experience than I could in my first year. I will, without a doubt return again in 2020 to review again and take the various post-certificate training courses offered.
