We are so excited for our FREE 4-day Golang Bootcamp!!

Golang is the fastest growing programming language according to Github, also one of the highest paid.

What is it?:

Golang is a programming language created by Google as a modern systems programming language. It incorporates decades of best practices from C programming ( and makes concurrency and parallelism a core pillar of the language.

Why?:

It is our mission as the Developers Alliance to help our programmers in the community level up, whether that is for your own personal projects or your career trajectory. We believe emphatically that offering these kinds of courses is good for the community. You can read more about our mission in the whitepaper (https://akdevalliance.com/paper)

What can Golang do for you?:

The developer landscape has drastically changed in the last 10 years. Most programmers are building in dynamic programming languages like Ruby, Python, and Javascript. We've seen programmer efficiency emphasized over computer science fundamentals and semantics.

Who?

Bill Kennedy - Ardan Labs - @goinggodotnet

Last October, Jeff Levin flew to Miami to take the world class Ultimate Go course provided by Ardan Labs with Bill Kennedy. Bill travels the globe doing corporate trainings, speaking at conferences, and is also the Author of Go In Action. Jeff got a LOT out of the course and continued a conversation with Bill. He asked "What would it take to get you to Alaska?" which got the ball rolling for him to come up.

Cost:

FREE. Bill is donating his time to join us in Alaska for a weekend to work with our community.

Is Golang for you?:

YES. Even if you will not be professionally programming in Go, the course utilizes the language to teach modern engineering principles that are applicable to any language. You will leave a different programmer than you started.

I'm new to programming, is the course for me?

Ultimate Go is geared at intermediate level programmers. This looks something like an undergraduate degree with a year programming experience or 3-4 years or professional experience. These are loose guidelines. You should understand variables and variable scope, loops, arrays, and have knowledge of at least one paradigm like MVC. If you are not sure if this course is for you, the 1 day work shop is for EVERYONE. Join us for the first course and we can decide together if Ultimate Go is a good fit.

Requirements:

In order to take the course you MUST take the 1-day Introduction to Golang course on 9/7 taught by our local Gopher, Adam Levy. The curriculum will review all of the basics of Golang including: variable declaration, data structures, loops, functions, interfaces, and a high level overview of go routines and channels. We will also handle setting up your development environment so you can get the most out of the Ultimate Go Course 9/13, 9/14, and 9/15.

What if I don't live in Anchorage?:

Unfortunately we cannot broadcast the whole course. HOWEVER, if you would be able to make the full Ultimate Go course in Anchorage, we will livestream the 1-day course for you. If getting to Anchorage is cost prohibitive and you would like to take the course, please contact us at info@akdevalliance.com and we may be able to work on a scholarship for you.
