I haven't written since my May concert. The reason, as some of you know, is that my mom passed away unexpectedly at the end of what was a really wonderful visit north, seeing and celebrating with family and friends.
Ironically, I published an essay substantially about my parents' lives with respect to racial justice only three months prior to my mom's death. You can find it online at Tikkun magazine.

A new musical recording, to be titled "Early Morning Star" is in the works, reflecting my compositional output of the past two years. Featuring clarinetist Kinan Azmeh, singer Andrea Wolper, drummer Tani Tabbal, and bassist Ken Filiano. Post-production will take place soon and hopefully it will be out by the Spring.
Next up: a duet concert with clarinetist/environmentalist David Rothenberg, Thursday evening, September 26, 7pm, at the University at Albany. More info forthcoming.
