Online Giving Available
KHCC is now accepting donations by electronic means. Most of us are carrying little cash and writing few checks – we pay bills with bank drafts and make purchases with charge cards. It is common sense that we make this online option available for our members.
We still accept cash and checks! If you enjoy putting your gift in the offering, that option will continue. If you would prefer to give electronically, go to our website and set up your giving link. If you would like to continue to put something in the offering tray, there will be “I gave online” cards available in the pews.
There is a small cost for this convenience – less than 1% for bank drafts (checking or savings account); however, churches using online giving report a measurable increase in offerings overall. Again, if you would like to continue to give in the traditional ways (cash, check, gift of stock, IRA distribution, etc.) please do what is meaningful to you.
If you are interested in online giving, go to our website http://www.khcc.org/ and click on “online giving” in the upper right hand corner. Another page will pop up and will take you through the steps to set this up. You will need to provide bank routing and account number and a password – your password must be at least 8 characters and contain 3 of these elements: upper case letter, lower case letter, a number, a symbol. (That sounds complicated, but you should only have to do it once.)
Once you set up your account, you may also give by text, as churches have found persons wanting to make a special offering or answer a special appeal appreciate the convenience of using their phone, rather than their computer at home, to do that.
Once you set up an account, you can easily access giving history, scheduled gifts, and payment methods.
We are partnering with Vanco Payment Solutions to offer this giving option. They are the largest on-line giving provider for the faith community with approximately 30,000 clients.

Interested in the future of KHCC?
Think about attending an Appreciative Inquiry Session on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. This is an open forum for our church family to share the ways that our church has excelled in meeting spiritual, mission, and relational needs.
This is another step in the Epiphany process – helping us find clarity of purpose and innovative ways to do ministry.

ByGeorge - misc.
Thanks to 36 of you that “saw it in the newsletter.” The youth fund grew by $82 (there was also a donation.) Thanks for keeping up with our attempts to help you be informed. I hope you find something of interest in each publication.
Setting up my online giving account for KHCC wasn’t any more difficult than setting up an account for rent, SWEPCO, insurance, etc. I did have to call about password requirements, but now that information is out (it’s in the newsletter) so you won’t need to call me. There is some satisfaction in putting a check in the offering each week, but I the consolation is having one less thing to remember to do on Sunday morning.
The horrific events of this last week raise issues that we need to address as a congregation. One issue is our readiness for emergencies. The Board has been asked to review a sample safety plan to deal with crises at our facilities. This plan calls for the creation of a team of individuals willing to step up if an emergency (storm, medical condition, disruptive person, etc.) arises and who will serve as guides for the congregation as to what to do. Additionally, we need to be making decisions as to how to better control our entrances on Sunday morning and if professional security is warranted. I hope we can come to some agreement on implementing a pro-active plan, recruit and train our team, and stand ready for events we pray will never occur.
I am working with some of our adult leaders to gear up for fall youth programming. We’ll be kicking things off on September 8th for CYF (high school) and Chi-Rho (middle school.) Same time (4:00 – 5:30 Sunday afternoons), but with a new focus and a new type of program. We are partnering with Orange (see https://thinkorange.com/ ) as a source of energized curriculum coordinated for reach age level, and we will be providing links for parents to partner with us in youth ministry. As the Orange website says: “What you do for kids and teenagers is more important than anything else the church does.” Maybe we need to consider this point as we plan, budget, and allocate human resources as a church.
