Regenerative Design Workshop Series Kicks Off In Two Weeks with Achieving Net-Zero Energy
In connection with this year's update process to incorporate regenerative design principles into our statewide Green Built Homes certification program, our nonprofit is launching a new monthly series of in-depth, inspirational workshops through the fall and winter of 2019, which are aimed at educating and engaging the community in regenerative design.
This series starts in two weeks on Wednesday, Aug. 21 with a workshop on Achieving Net-Zero Energy led by Amy Musser of Vandemusser Design and Emily Boyd of Mountain Sun Building & Design.
This workshop will provide insight into net-zero energy homes, with topics including:
◘ What makes a home net-zero energy?
◘ What special planning is necessary?
◘ How does energy conservation and education and occupant behavior fit into the plan?
We will discuss how to achieve the greatest energy efficiency with building systems such as insulation, heating, cooling, hot water, and ventilation, as well as essential ways solar energy will help you reach net zero. A local case study will show how the whole process comes together for a successful project.

Get Involved as a Sponsor at GBA's Seventh Annual CiderFest NC Fundraiser
1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12
Carrier Park, 220 Amboy Road, Asheville
This October marks our seventh celebration of our nonprofit's CiderFest NC fundraiser. The event has grown each year since it began and become one of Western North Carolina's most popular fall festivals.
This year, we invite all of our members to consider the opportunity to connect with 2,000 consumers as a sponsor our nonprofit's largest annual fundraiser.
This annual event sells out each year, and last year's event welcomed 2,000 guests to enjoy 24 cider and mead makers from across the country as well as dozens of vendors of local foods, arts and crafts.
We expect a larger crowd this year as we move to our improved and expanded venue at Carrier Park.
We hope you will consider this opportunity to support our nonprofit and grow your business as a sponsor.
