Meet the Class of 2020: Jared Brown
Jared Brown, 28, Springfield, is Marketing Manager for Brandt Consolidated. He manages the companies 20 race NASCAR sponsorship program, business to business relationships as well as charitable events and agriculture outreach programs. Jared was a Section 14 President of the Illinois FFA and was a student representative for the State FFA Board of Directors. Jared has studied abroad with the University of Illinois College of ACES in Jamaica. Jared continues his work with the Athens FFA Alumni chapter. He has been honored as a District III Star in Agribusiness. He is an alumnus of the Farmhouse fraternity and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Consumer Economics from the University of Illinois.

Heather Hampton- Knodle (IALP '98) Vice President of Knodle LTD., was asked to represent farmers on an industry panel that included Corteva, Nestle, Ducks Unlimited, and National Corn Growers Association at the Trust in Food Conservation Agriculture celebration in Washington, D.C. on July 26th. She was also asked to participate in the Women of R.I.P.E (Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency) panel at AgTech Nexxus USA held in Chicago on July 22nd. 
 
 
Brian Satorius (IALP '16) Menard County Farm Bureau President, recently commented on the hot dry conditions and how they are affecting the growth of soybeans and corn. Following the challenges of an excessively wet spring, farmers are again facing less than ideal conditions as this week portions of the state have been ranked abnormally dry on the U.S. Drought Monitor. You can read the full

At their recently held annual meeting, the Illinois Soybean Association elected new executive committee members as well as directors. Three of these new appointments are held by IALP Alumni. Betsey Emerick (IALP '20) has been elected as an at-large director. Doug Schroeder (IALP '90) has been elected Chairman after having previously served two years as the organization's Vice-Chairman. Ron Moore (IALP '98) was elected as an American Soybean Association representative after having previously served as President and Chairman. Also an IALP Alum, executive committee member, Steve Pitstick (IALP '00), remains as Vice-Chairman.
GROWMARK Global Challenges Seminar
The Class of 2020 recently completed the GROWMARK Global Challenges seminar held in Chicago, July 24th-26th. This seminar gave the class members the opportunity to understand major issues of concern for the world, focusing on hunger and food security, gain insights to technology challenges presented to agriculture globally and how they are being met, learn how agriculture and other organizations are addressing food production trends on a global scale, and examine perspectives and insights on leadership. Class of 2020 member, Jill Johnson, introduces Kate Maehr, Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Kate gave a presentation on The Challenge of Feeding the Hungry. 
Theresa Mintle, Vice Chancellor of the University of Illinois in Chicago, and former President and CEO of the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, shares her leadership journey. 
Mark Beckmann, Director, Industry Solutions, Microsoft Marketing Sector, leads a discussion on Leadership in Global Agriculture. 
For the final day of the seminar, the Class visited CNH Industrial where they were given a tour and enjoyed presentations. 


Monte Weller (IALP '06), Case IH Crop Production and Hay Forage Product Line Director, along with Dave Larson (IALP '86), Ag Digital Partnerships & Special Projects with CNH Industrial, spoke with the class about CNHi Global Crop Production and Precision Planting Initiatives.
