Guest Artist: Carol Peterson
Presentation: Art and Computers
Carol Peterson BIO:
Carol was born and raised in Manistee, MI, attended the University of Michigan and SMU as an undergraduate, and went to SMU and Purdue for graduate school. Her degrees are in mathematics. She has three children and 8 grandchildren. She worked for 20 years as a Computer Information Professor at South Plains College and retired in 2001 when she started painting seriously. She's taken many art workshops over the years - several of these from Gale Webb and Jo Beth Gilliam. She found inspiration and encouragement from her husband, the Friday Life Drawers, the Thursday painters, and many WTWS members. She admits with enthusiasm, "I've learned a great deal from all my artist friends!!"
Carol Peterson Presentation:
Her presentation will be combining her interest in art with her knowledge of computers.
PRESENTATION
I use my iPad when
1. Deciding what to paint
2. Deciding how to proceed with a painting - particularly backgrounds
3. How to fix or correct a painting
I hope to show how I do the following -
1. Crop a photo for painting or a finished painting for framing
2. Use layers to change parts of a painting
3. Use layers to decide on a background, how to add glazing to my painting, add details
4. Change the temperature of a painting
5. How to darken, lighten, add saturation, add filters, etc.
I hope to show both the choices already available in the iPad and the app I use for more extensive changes.
