Three Recommended Podcast Episodes Every Humpday

Imagine giving your friends a free ebook that they will cherish forever. Forward this email to friends and tell them to click on this link to subscribe and they'll get just that in a few more days.
Two big items to share today so I’ll minimize my normal drivel.

The previously mentioned book is sooooo close. Unless something goes catastrophically wrong, it will be released to all subscribers for free no later than August 12. So please help spread the word. Sharing is daring. (I wish there was a better rhyme to use there.)

The other big news is that I will be a panelist at the Podcast Movement conference next week. The insight that the other four industry big wigs will be dishing out will be amazing. I will be there to say “ditto.” The panel will be livecast via the Castbox app (download for free) so when I get specifics, I’ll share it in next week’s newsletter and on my twitter feed. The panel is on 8/15 at 11:30 am eastern DST.

The Fine Print

The Skimmer’s Hook: Think twice before leaving a company a bad review.

Listen if you like: Your Credit Score, Writing Reviews

Have you ever had a craptacular meal at a restaurant or been subjected to sketchy service from an auto mechanic? Are you the type of person that jumps onto Yelp and blasts away as a warning to other people?

The couple in this episode were not happy with a purchase and decided to write a beautiful sonnet about their lousy experience (probably not poetic but prove me wrong). And then it all goes south. But then north!

There’s no doubt this story will make you think twice about your reviewing habits.

Podcast: Bleeped - Terms of Service (25 mins)

Love Can Mend Your Life But…

The Skimmer’s Hook: Someone found a message in a bottle and decided to track down the person that wrote it.

Listen if you like: Tracking Down a Mystery, Kevin Costner

… Love Can Break Your Heart.

Ahh, the romanticism of finding a message in a bottle. Does that really happen or is it just in sappy movies?

Well, it did happen for one person while walking on the beach. But she couldn’t read it as it was in a different language. She gave it to her friend Karen to translate it for her. From there, it became Karen’s mission to track down the mystery of the letter. She even wrote a book about her never-ending search.

Does Karen ever find the author? I’m not telling but the answer is only about 20 mins away.

Podcast: This is Love - Message in a Bottle (24 mins)

Cat Got Your Wallet?

The Skimmer’s Hook: Everyone loves a success story. This is not one of those.

Listen if you like: Barcode Scanners, Cats, Burning Through Cash

How many amazing ideas do you have running around that egg on top of your shoulders? Have you ever thought about finding some investors to bring your idea to life? Imagine getting $185 Million.

Now imagine being one of those investors after actually thinking more clearly about a product that reads barcodes and is shaped like a cat. Yup, not feeling so brilliant any more, I imagine.

If you think that’s bad, it gets worse.

On the positive side, it eases my pain of getting suckered into buying a crypto kitty.

Podcast: Water Cooled Potato - CueCat (22 mins)

Extra Hot Sauce

Since I’m always looking out for you, I don’t get to listen to Beautiful/Anonymous as much as I would like. This inspiring caller has been dealt an awful hand and somehow has such a positive outlook on life. (72 mins)

On the flip side, we have the story of the Fyre Festival swindle which, if you haven’t seen the dueling documentaries, was the sh*tshow created by someone that I learned lived a few miles from me. (51 mins)
I love hearing from people. I'm also bored. Therefore, I reply to everyone. Come at me.
