Staff Appreciation
This year we continued the tradition of fun, food and fellowship at the July staff appreciation event, COE Staff Making A Splash! Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered to make this a great event! The winner of the annual Buzz Trophy was ECE. We recognized new staff and those who received awards or other noteworthy accomplishments in the past year.
This was a wonderful year for the COE staff awards: there were more than 30 nominations for the four award categories. The purpose of these awards is to provide formal recognition for staff members within the College. Each winner received a desk award and $1200. Congratulations to the following recipients:
Rising Star Award: Sherri Williams, AE
Team Builder Award: Dawn Franklin, ChBE
Hero Award: Millie Wan, ME
T’xpert Award: Amy Wang, ME
Be sure to check out all the photos from the event, and the slideshow of new staff and staff achievements!

Armed Services Collection Drive
We received a tremendous supply of snacks, candy, health products, games, socks, and eye glass wipes to send to service members who are deployed. We were able to pack and ship 6 box sets (1 full of snacks and games/magazines and 1 box of assorted health products) — enough for a service member to use and some to share — to locations including Hawaii and Afghanistan. In addition, we shared boxes with the Georgia Tech Army ROTC office for students and reservists. Thank you to all who contributed! Your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Klemis Kitchen
Thank you to our colleagues in ChBE and ISyE for hosting drives in support of the students served by Klemis Kitchen! ChBE put together 100 finals week goody bags and ISyE had a toiletries/food drive in July.
Another thank you to all the staff members who took the time to write “welcome back” cards to the students served by Klemis Kitchen during the staff appreciation event. We appreciate your time!

COESCAC Updates
COESCAC thanks all College staff who participated in the Functional Action Teams. As you may recall, the Functional Action Teams were created to dive deeper into the feedback that arose from last Fall’s Staff Engagement Day. Teams met to review the suggestions from Staff Engagement Day, discuss them further, and provide specific recommendations to the Dean’s Office. The teams are now finalizing their action plans and implementation of their recommendations. Stay tuned for more updates!
By now, everyone should have received a save-the-date for the 3rd Annual CoE Staff Engagement Day. The event is scheduled for November 21, from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Student Center Ballroom. Mark your calendars, and COESCAC will be in touch as we get closer to the event.
COESCAC wishes everyone a pleasant start to the Fall semester!
