Did you see it?! Over on Instagram I posted about the double unders I'm FINALLY able to do again, and it brought me to this week's intention...

THIS WEEK'S INTENTION:

RETHINK WHAT'S WORTH IT

I used to be really good at double unders (a hard AF jump rope move). I love doing them, but I had to stop after I hurt my knee. *sad face* Then, my body started making a human being so jump rope was out for even longer. *more sad face, but also happy face because BABY*

I've been back in the gym for 6 months now, slowwwwwly progressing my jump rope skills all the while staying tuned into what felt right for my body. Just last week, it finally clicked back into place and I started regularly being able to get 10 or more in a row! I didn't even pee myself!!! :D

6 months, dude. 6 months of patient, forgiving, loving WORK. All because I followed the joy I felt from doing them. Was it all joy getting back INTO doing them? Not really. There was a lot of frustration and backing off when my knee said "nope". I kept reminding myself that the joy was worth it even when my arms stung from getting whipped by the rope over and over again.

If I've learned one thing over the years, it's that what's worth it isn't body change, a number on the scale, or a negative calorie count. What's worth the work is how I feel day in and day out, something those surface-oriented goals can never directly affect. What creates the feel-goods is movement that's meant for you.

How do you want to feel today?
How can movement help you get there?
What's worth the work to you?

Stop trying to fit yourself into someone else's strict limitations of what workouts "should" be. Finding a way to move that feels worth the work will revolutionize your relationship with movement. Hint: your joy is usually worth it. ;)

Enjoy yourself, bb,
Amy

Welcome to the VIP section, babe! This is where I share my fav finds, happenings and thoughts from the week. Here's what's up in my world now:

Big BIG steps - There's some big shit happening in my personal life that I'm both thrilled and terrified about. The terrified part of me has been playing games with my anxiety a bit, but I've learned over my many years that–as long as the thrilled part is there–it's a risk worth taking. That's how I decided to do The 30x30 Project! I'll tell you all about it soon.

Iced decaf ANYTHING - I'm a huge coffee person, but alas, I'm still feeding a human from my body so cutting down on my caffeine is necessary. If you love your coffee but not the jitters (my anxious boos, you know what's up), check out Swiss Water Processed decaf. It's the only ACTUAL decaf out there that doesn't taste like burnt crap. Take it from a coffee snob!

Power song - Every time I listen to this song, I imagine myself kicking it on during one of those pivotal moments in class. It's one of those juicy jams that helps you go, "OH I AM READY TO LET GO OF THAT SHIT." You know? ;)
