A NEW GREEN SCHOOL YEAR

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! The start of a new school year has many of the same feelings as January 1st. We are full of hope and energy and can see new possibilities all around us. This year, let the Nebraska Forest Service help you engage all of those new green possibilities. We are here to support you throughout the entire school year. From professional development for teachers of all grades to classroom visits to field trips to Nebraska Green Schools certification to celebrating Smokey Bear's 75th birthday, we are here to offer new learning experiences to you and your students. We wish you all the best and offer this advice from a tree: set your roots deep, and branch out as far as you can.

ROUND TABLE RECAP

Thank you to the USGBC Nebraska Flatwater Chapter and DLR Group for hosting an engaging and energizing Green Schools Round Table event on August 1st. Teachers, volunteers, administrators, architects, green industry professionals, environmental educators, and many others came together to discuss the barriers seen when trying to implement green schools initiatives and to share solutions. After a trip to Hillside Solutions, a commercial composting farm, we spent the rest of the morning hearing about successes and learning from each other. We hope you will join us next year!
