Highlands Complete Street Walking Tour

Tuesday, August 6 @ 6:00pm | Winter Ave + Barret Ave + Castlewood Ave

We hope you'll join us tonight at 6:00pm for our Highlands Complete Streets Walking Tour!

We’re meeting at the corner of Edward St and Hepburn Ave (in front of First Philadelphia Church) to discuss the recent design changes made to three streets in the Highlands.

  • Winter Ave: 4-to-3 Road Diet
  • Barret Ave: Multi-Use Path and 4-to-2 Road Diet
  • Castlewood Ave: Two-Way Protected Bike Lane and 3-to-2 Road Diet

Our friends at Complete Streets for Louisville are helping us with the event, and we’ll be performing a walkability assessment to help them gather data for their proposed complete street ordinance.

The walk will be a two-mile loop, starting in the Original Highlands and going toward Tyler Park before looping back to our starting spot. We’ll be discussing the great changes that have been made over the last year, as well as the areas that still need improvement (spoiler alert: we need more street trees!).

The forecast for today is mid-to-high 80s. We encourage you to bring your own refreshments, but just in case, we’ll have a cooler full of bottled waters in tow to help keep everyone well-hydrated.

We hope to see you this evening! Please let us know if you have any questions in the meantime!

Kell Palletti Memorial Ride: Saturday, August 24

We also want to invite you to join us at Seneca Park at 9:30am on Saturday, August 24, as we remember Kell Palletti, who last year was struck and killed on Westport Road while riding his bike home from work.

In remembering Kell, we hope to raise awareness for all victims of traffic violence -- pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers -- and for the importance that safe roadway design plays in preventing needless deaths.
