This is a weekly social mixer for locals, travelers, international students, and international professionals in Denver. This is a place to meet friends, learn about travel in Colorado and contribute to the travel community. Feel free to being snacks or drinks to share, games, and blankets for others to sit on.
This is a weekly event. It will occur again August 14.


Summer Happy Hour

Please join the World Trade Center for an evening of networking with the international business community of Colorado. Please feel free to extend this invite to any friends or colleagues who might be interested in meeting like-minded people and learning more about what the World Trade Center Denver does. Members of the Mile High Pétanque Club and the Alliance Française de Denver gather for a friendly game of boules or pétanque on the patio at the AFD. Beginners welcome!
Please be sure to bring your own water and snacks to stay hydrated.


Tanabata

In Japan, Tanabata festivals celebrate the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi.  According to Japanese legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, who are allowed to meet once a year in July. Join the celebration on Sunday evening, August 11th at 6:30PM.  Address and directions will be provided when you sign up.


Latin Fest 2019

Our mission is to make this a community event supported by local businesses and non-profits. We encourage as many residents to attend as we can and provide an opportunity to not only celebrate the Latin culture intrinsic to the area while offering an opportunity for information and communication exchanges between residents and organizations and employers active in the neighborhood.

An Introduction to International Trade

August 15 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Want to get involved in international business but have no idea where to start? This training will introduce you to the world of international business from a beginner’s perspective, introducing critical resources with each step. The World Trade Center Denver will provide you with a brief history of global trade, how it works, and why it is important in addition to an overview of strategy and operation considerations, export compliance considerations, and import compliance considerations. This seminar is meant to provide a brief overview and more detail about these objectives are provided in other trainings.

 


Global Fest 2019

Join us for Global Fest, the city of Aurora's annual international celebration of food, art, and entertainment. Enjoy flavors, music, and performances from around the world, including an international fashion show.
This free event includes two stages of performances, a Parade of Nations, food vendors offering global tastes, and cultural experiences showcasing the international flavor of Aurora.


Building Bridges 2019 Block Party Celebrating 25 Years!

At Building Bridges, they equip resilient young leaders with communication and relationship-building skills to transform divides in our communities. Since 1994, Building Bridges has empowered thousands of people to come together for social change across seemingly impossible differences.

Join them to celebrate 25 years of transformation at this year's Building Bridges Block Party! Tickets include tastings of food, drinks, and sweet treats; games, activities, and vendors; and art and music by local artists.  Youth 5 and under can join for free.

WORLDLY OPPORTUNITIES!

Homestay Opportunities!
WorldDenver is hosting homestay opportunities! Currently, they are looking for volunteers for these homestay opportunities:
Iraqi Youth Leadership Program (August 12- August 26)
Youth Ambassadors France (October 22 - October 31)
Professional Fellows (October 18- November 19)
Russia Open World (December 6- December 14)


Expectations for Homestay Hosts:

-Provide a welcoming home that is respectful of other cultures
-Treat your guest(s) like family
-Share your favorite cultural parts of the city and state 
-Provide a room with an individual bed & access to a shared bathroom (youth can share rooms, must have individual bed)
-Provide 2 meals/day Monday-Friday, 3 meals/day on weekends (dietary restrictions may apply)
-Transportation: Students will need to be dropped off/picked up at WorldDenver office;
-Professionals: public transportation to/from worksite placements, Monday – Friday

Homestay Hosting is a great way to travel the world without leaving your home.

Worldly Nonprofit Spotlight
 



 
Into Your Hands Africa is an international non-profit organization (with an office in Denver) that provides educational resources to youth and their families living in rural Uganda. In an effort to improve the well-being of the rural poor, we make it possible for youth and their families to receive a transformative education that emphasizes the value of their agricultural environment. 
The primary goals of Into Your Hands-Africa is to give rural Ugandan youth and their families the opportunity to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to fully realize their potential. Into Your Hands-Africa does this through formal and informal life-skills based education through which youth and their families will:

• Understand and develop their own capabilities;
• Understand, develop, and create the resources available to them;
• Understand and develop good judgment; and,
• Further develop the ability to care for themselves, their communities, and their environments.

Into Your Hands-Africa works primarily with Catholic school communities and parishes in the Masaka Diocese. They are an ecumenical organization who puts their faith into action while respecting the religious backgrounds of the diverse population whom they serve.
