Dear ARC members,

We are delighted to announce that we are planning to submit a new project proposal on innovation in airport operation. This project would be a SESAR-RIA initiative (Single European Sky ATM Research Joint Undertaking – Research and Innovation Action).

The project will address the airport contribution to multimodality. The aim is to increase the efficiency of the overall transport chain by improving the interoperability of different modes of transport, addressing in particular the contribution of airports to multimodality to increase the environmental sustainability, to make more efficient use of the existing infrastructures and improve the passenger’s experience. The project would have a duration of 28 months with an estimate budget of 1,6M EUR – 2M EUR.

Through this project, we aim to provide you with new knowledge, specifically related to the development of an integrated intermodal process for passengers/ baggage - with regard to time efficiency, predictability, seamlessness, resilience, security, convenience, accessibility – in a door-to-door environment building on customer expectations. The results of this project would be of course disseminated to you via the various communication and dissemination activities (e.g. publications, events). ARC members would have the possibility to attend the project events free of charge and exchange views and ideas directly with the researchers, having the opportunity to be part of the development process.

The lead partner of the project is DLR (German Aerospace Centre). The ARC was invited by the lead partner to be part of an already agreed consortium. The ARC’s role in this project will be to lead communication and dissemination work package.

The project proposal will be submitted on 10 September 2019. We truly hope that the submission will have a positive outcome. It may take up to 8 months after the submission for the results to be published.

Thank you and we will keep you updated about the outcome.

Kind regards,

Your ARC Secretariat
