WRP Events in August

Sunday, August 11: Tour the Eaton Dams removal site in Royalton

RSVP to join us on August 11 at 2pm for a free tour of the former Upper & Lower Eaton Dams, which the WRP and its partners removed in July (see before and after photos below). Meet at the small gravel parking lot at the NE corner of the Mill Road bridge across the First Branch in Royalton. Dress to walk along the river.

August 7 & 21: Water quality monitoring at a swimming hole near you!

Do you have a favorite swimming hole? Have you ever wondered how clean the water is? We do and we have, so WRP staff and trained volunteers monitor water quality at 22 swimming holes every other Wednesday from May 29 through September 4. Results are available the Thursday following each monitoring date. Contact us to receive results directly!

Late-August: Improving fish passage on Pomfret's Mill Brook

The WRP, VT Fish & Wildlife, US Fish & Wildlife Service, Greater Upper Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and Town of Pomfret are partnering to improve fish passage through the first culvert on Mill Brook later this month. Project partners will install a new type of rubber baffle system to create a series of steps inside the culvert, allowing fish to travel upstream - follow this link to learn more!
