Going Green this Back-to-School Season

School is starting for students throughout Hawaii, and now is a great time to think about what you can do to reduce, reuse, and recycle. In preparation for back-to-school season, here are eight helpful tips to consider when going green this year.

While clothes used to be a long-term investment, the society we live in now has created a culture of “fast fashion” – where we buy cheap garments for short-term use before replacing them with the next trending items that are marketed to us. The result of this is a disastrous impact on our environment. Here are ways you can decrease the “fast fashion” and create a more sustainable wardrobe for this school year!

Last month, our Storm Water team visited Sea Life Park on Wednesday, July 17, to share with park visitors the importance of keeping Oahu’s storm drains clean and how we can all do our part to keep the oceans trash-free. Our team also participated in the City and County of Honolulu Stormwater Quality Workshop on July 23-26.
