ReWind
Some of the best surprises in a metropolitan city lie behind inauspicious facades, tucked away in the hidden corners of a place. Generally, when something has survived off the beaten path, there is a reason for its lasting appeal. Given enough time, history, and sheer force of population mass, any city will start producing tiny diamonds of brilliance in the smothering urban pressure of concrete jungle. Find out more here.

Four Tet’s New Track, “Dreamer”: More Proper, Refined House Music from the Legendary UK Pioneer
Ever since his full length Pink, Four Tet has seemed rather content in his new role as house music forerunner - most of his tunes since then have been his own idiosyncratic interpretations of one of dance music’s hoariest tropes. Read the review and listen to the track here.

reflecting for the future
featuring Miss Karla Marx

Miss Karla Marx
In the newest edition of Reflecting for the Future, we connect with Miss Karla Marx. She’s a rising star in the Western Canada drag, burlesque and performance scene, and has been on the loose this summer from Astral Harvest Music & Arts Festival to Vancouver Pride to Grindhaüs’ House of Sleaze to her regular drag troupe Fake Mustache.

She is a politically and socially conscious performer and educator, with a famously quick wit and sharp tongue whenever on MC duties. As an outspoken proponent of LGBTQ2S+ issues, as well as an established student of history with a curiously broad knowledge of Communism and Socialism, she speaks from a deep well of experience knowledge and experience.

As usual, we wanted to hear her thoughts on a path forward for positivity, inclusivity, and intentional art in the burgeoning Calgary arts scene. Read on here.

prismatic art
The magic of Bass Coast has many ingredients, from the vast efforts of patrons to craft their personal costume and camping experiences to the gorgeously crafted stage spaces to the meticulously curated musical roster. One particularly unforgettable element is the wide array of inspiring art and sculpture that the festival supports and displays. The festival founders’ exposure to great art festivals like Burning Man and Lighting In A Bottle is always evident based on the profusion of creations on the Bass Coast site. Read the rest of the feature here.
