Mayor Quinton Lucas will discuss his top priorities and take questions from the audience at the South Kansas City Alliance monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, August 12, in the Community Room of the front building of the South Patrol Police Campus, 9701 Marion Park Dr.
Mayor Pro Tem & 6th District Councilman Kevin McManus and 6th District-at-Large Councilwoman Andrea Bough will discuss what they feel are the most important issues facing the city and listen to audience input on what issues merit the most attention by the City Council.
Rachel Casey, executive director of the Community Assistance Council, will explain the organization’s efforts to assist struggling south Kansas City residents by providing rent and utility assistance, a food pantry and a clothes closet. She will also discuss new initiatives that hopefully will allow the agency to assist more of our neighbors.
Michelle Metje, president and co-founder of Corey’s Network (named for her murdered son), will tell about her organization’s work to reduce homicides and other violent crime in the metropolitan area and to support the families of other murder victims.
Swana Lansdown, SKCA Codes Advocate, will report on her success in getting south Kansas City residents and property owners to promptly correct reported property maintenance and nuisance violations on their property.
