From The Boundary Staff
are back once again
to serve you!

Welcome <<First Name>>

And the new season is under way
Well, almost. (Premiers first game is Saturday 19th October at Suburbs.) But while the planning has never stopped, indoor practices have been going on for a number of weeks. The Coach explains...

"This is now my 9th season coaching at club level and I think I say this every season but I've never looked forward to a cricket campaign as much as this!
Last season was a special one but what is more exciting is that this group knows the work has only just begun and we have won nothing other than a chance to prove we belong in the top flight.
We are now five weeks into our preseason preparations. We have had a group of 20+ training up at Massey University and the competition for spots is right where I want it to be.
Our group remains pretty much exactly the same as last season apart from Gus McKenzie who is studying in Dunedin has been selected within the wider Otago squad so he will be playing his season down in the South Island. Well done Gus.

We have an exciting start to the season taking on two of the top ranked sides in Suburbs New Lynn and Howick Pakuranga but we will not shy away from this. As the saying goes, to be the man you got to beat the man!"
Chris Reid
Coach

These are our English guests
for the summer

We have some visitors from the other side of the world coming to enjoy a Devonport summer and they are looking for somewhere to stay.
Elliot, Mac and Tom will play for North Shore this summer and Tom’s girlfriend Cara is joining the group and will be looking for work.
Can you help? Are you going away for the summer and would like to have house sitters? Do you have a place to rent? Can you offer them a place to stay in your home? Do you know someone who can help?
Ideally they are after a 2 or 3 bedroom, furnished home from mid/end October until the end of March so they can all live together. Or they could split into groups two groups of two (Tom/Cara & Mac/Elliot).
If you can help please get in touch with them directly. Here’s a little bit about the awesome foursome …

Tom
I’m a 22 year old recent university graduate from West London.
I will be spending the summer months in Auckland to play for North Shore as well as work part time, living with my girlfriend, Cara (below!).
The length of stay is from the end of September to the end of March, and Cara and I expect to embark on a couple of trips to tourist destinations around NZ whilst we are in the country.

Cara
I am a 21 year old Law graduate excited to explore and work in a new country.
I am staying in New Zealand from the 17th September to the beginning of March with my boyfriend Tom.
During my stay I aim to travel around most of New Zealand and work part-time to fund my doing so. My interests include hiking (which I am excited to try on both the North and South Islands in my attempt to train for Everest Base Camp in April 2020), travelling, crafts and sports. I am very excited to live across the world and have a different experience post-University.

Let's give them a big friendly
North Shore welcome!

It's coming to get you!

North Shore Toyota very kindly loan Tendai this vehicle.
"But the signage needs to be more dynamic this year", they said.
Well, we didn't need a moments hesitation to get to work with the Simitars!
The result is a design that will be recognised anywhere.
Just as Long as it doesn't frighten the children!

Shore goes Hi-Tech!

Wow! as from this season, if you can't make it down to the Domain, you can sit at home (or anywhere) and watch the Premier games being Live Streamed over the internet!

Vaughan Brown joins the Board

Vaughan Brown was a New Zealand offspinner whose only Test wicket cost Richard Hadlee a ten-for.
In the first Test against Australia at Brisbane in 1985-86, a rampant Hadlee had taken the first eight wickets to fall when Vaughan, bowling, had Geoff Lawson well caught in the deep ... by Hadlee himself.
Frank Keating described it as the catch of the century, not so much for the catch itself (though it was eminently droppable) but because Hadlee was well set to become only the second bowler to take all ten in a Test innings.
Vaughan was also the first winner of the New Zealand Cricket Council's Young Player to Lord's scholarship, in 1979.
Vaughan played 83 games for North Shore and took 190 wickets at 28.97.

We welcome Vaughan to the Board and the knowledge and expertise he brings.
