“For [in Christ Jesus] neither circumcision and uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation” (Galatians 6:15 NET Bible).

Hi, Friend,

Are you being misled?

By Peter Wade

There are a lot of people who still feel more comfortable in religious Christianity if they are told to do something. There is something within our inherent nature that causes us feel that we must always do something, especially when an authority figure is doing the telling. We’re not happy just relaxing and being a living expression of Christ Jesus.

In Colossians 2:20 notice the passive nature — “Why… do you submit to ordinances?” Why do you allow yourself to be subjected to people who say “Don’t, don’t, don’t”? So can we still be in control of our lives? Absolutely! You’ve got the “let” in verse 16, the “let” in verse 18, and now you have this statement in verse 20, “Why… do you submit?” There is no reason for these regulations. They have “a reputation, an appearance of wisdom” but “they are of no value” (verse 23).

So if you still feel you have to take some step, some action in order to have full spiritual power or growth, then according to Paul you are being misled. The text says that these things all perish with the using and have been obtained from human teaching. They are all transient things. In the church age, it is not what you eat or drink or do that counts. What is important is what you have — Christ within!

“For [in Christ Jesus] neither circumcision and uncircumcision counts for anything; the only thing that matters is a new creation” (Galatians 6:15 NET Bible).

Do You have anything to say to me? By Rufus Moseley

In the spring of 1926, I made another visit to Saint Louis, reaching there the first day of May. On the following Thursday, May 6, while in prayer at the Moise home, I asked the Lord if He had anything He would like to say to me.

I commenced laughing at myself for my stupidity in not asking this before. I realized how ridiculous it would be to have an hour with, let us say, the President of the United States, and monopolize the conversation, then ask him as you said good-bye if he had anything to say.

Expire to Inspire By Ian Thomas

When I was a young man, I once went to a voice trainer. She was a rather large woman — not fat or flabby, just solid. I had hardly crossed the threshold into her studio when she barked at me: “Expire!”

I said, “Expire? But I’m too young!” (which I thought was incredibly funny). She did not think so, and she made it demonstrably obvious that she did not think so. So I expired.

“That is not the way to expire,” she quickly told me. She then showed me the proper way to do it, and man, could she expire! Whooo-ooo-ooo-ooo! By the time she was through expiring, she seemed to be about half her former size.
