We're excited to share this semester's plans for students of Critical Media Practice, who are integrating media creation into their scholarly work.
"Into Place: Capstone Projects in Critical Media Practice" featured works by 12 CMP students and recent alumni.

NEWS

On April 25-May 4, 2019 we mounted our inaugural exhibition of media works by CMP students, "Into Place: Capstone Projects in Critical Media Practice." The cinema program and gallery show presented a range of works including films, sound pieces, multi-channel installations, interactive projects, and performances. See program booklet here.

CMP convened a workshop on Immersion: Social and Technological Pasts and Futures bringing together anthropologists, media studies scholars, programmers, and artists at the Radcliffe Institute last March.

CMP welcomes three new students to the secondary field: Adi Snir from the Department of Music, Beatrice Steinert from the Department of History of Science, and Lilia Kilburn from the Department of Anthropology.

All CMP students are now required to present their capstone work-in-progress at a CMP critique three to six months before their defense. Critiques for students graduating this spring will begin in October and ideally include their capstone committee, fellow CMP students, and interested faculty. Upcoming critiques will be posted on our events page. Students interested in additional informal critiques of CMP work can email Cozette Russell.

Check out the CMP blog for posts on Shireen Hamza's Flaherty Seminar experience, Kythe Heller's Vision Lab, the Introduction to CMP class show, and Emilio Vavarella's Italian Council award.
