"The world has a long ‘to-do’ list"

“A world without extreme poverty, want or hunger is not an impossible dream. It is within reach". These are the words of Secretary-General António Guterres, addressing the world leaders gathered for the opening day of the 77th United Nations General Assembly.

With people from all points of the globe looking out for a spark of hope, it is crucial to act globally on major challenges, from climate change to sustainable development. Even with the geopolitical gridlock, António Guterres points out that cooperation and dialogue are the only paths forward to solve global challenges, calling for a coalition of the world, to achieve and sustain peace, while overcoming divisions and strengthening the core mission of the United Nations.

Calling for the world to keep working for peace, the meeting encouraged world leaders to prioritise the climate crisis fight and not put climate action on the back burner. Global greenhouse gas emissions need to be slashed by 45 per cent by 2030 to reach the goal of achieving net zero by 2050.

EU Bioeconomy Conference 2022

The EU Bioeconomy Conference 2022 - Enabling the European Green Deal in Challenging Times will take place on 6 and 7 October in Brussels. However, all sessions will also be live-streamed to allow everyone to get involved from anywhere.

This event will highlight the role of bioeconomy policy to enhance policy coherence and system thinking and will contribute to the definition of the next steps in EU bioeconomy policy action. By exploring bioeconomy success stories, this session will also discuss how the bioeconomy can help to better manage certain trade-offs.
