It’s not as well-known as the Clean Air Act but the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act can and must be used to control greenhouse gases. That’s why we’re petitioning the EPA.

CPR Initiative's June 16, 2022 filing kicked off a 90-day statutory deadline for the EPA to grant or deny the Petition to Phase Out Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Pollution. Just 90 1 day from now and counting the EPA must determine whether or not GHG pollution "presents an unreasonable risk of injury to health or the environment" — and, if so, to kick-off a rulemaking proceeding to limit that risk.

If not, we will need to see the Agency in court.

Getting this done right will not be easy, but it is possible, if we do it together.
