Connecting People, Ideas, and Resources
Nonprofit News for October

Welcome to Nonprofit Connection's bi-monthly newsletter of timely information
All of this information plus the Resources you need are available on our Website and updated regularly on our Facebook Page and LinkedIn Page.
Answer one question:
Have you seriously considered leaving your
nonprofit job for better pay/benefits?
Your opinion matters.* Our insights can turn into influence. Anonymous, fast, and important! Results will appear in an upcoming newsletter.

Thanks to all who took ten seconds
to answer last month's question:
Is there room for advancement in your organization?

Two-thirds said "no" with one-third of respondents indicating there is room to advance
Comment to consider: - what are you doing in your own NPO?
"I'm in a very hierarchical org where there is almost no crossover or skill sharing, no access to training or conferences anymore, and no career pathway even outside of the org - the jump would be doing the same thing at a new place, because we haven't learned about other roles."
*Answering the monthly question enters you into a random drawing
every quarter for a local $25 Verve Gift Card!
In this issue:

As a business owner or nonprofit ED, you have several aspects of your business to juggle at all times. One of the most important is hiring, retaining, and fairly compensating employees. According to data from Paychex and IHS Markit, hiring at U.S. small businesses with fewer than 50 employees has slowed for five consecutive months.

The Generosity of Our Donor Circle Sponsors!

“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”  ~ Coretta Scott King

In August of 2020 (five months after we launched), our friend Karen Storey, inspired a tradition that touched the hearts of our Leadership Team!

Karen made a kind and very generous gift to sponsor membership for two nonprofit organizations in need. Her donation was a wonderful gesture and especially meaningful as NPC continues to build its foundation of nonprofit colleagues and collaborators!

She was quickly joined by others - we love these generous individual and organizational donors! Their sponsorships covered first-year dues to provide the benefits of NPC membership to small or emerging nonprofits. In addition to annual member sponsorships, we use Donor Circle funds to expand the resources, connections, and collaborations that strengthen ALL nonprofits in Santa Cruz County. For a complete list of Donor Circle Members.

Thank you to the following new sponsors
for the generous role you play in improving our community!
