Grace Wins Every Time

I’m sure you’ve been there, on the roadway, in a huge mess of traffic with the cars in the lanes to your right and to your left moving faster than you can in your lane. When you get the opportunity, you take it and quickly move to an adjacent lane only to find out that now that lane is the slow lane and the cars in the other two lanes are passing you, once again, even the cars that seemed gridlocked in the lane you just vacated.

It's a never-ending battle – the rat-race of life and somehow Murphy is in the car riding with you. You know Murphy… he’s the one that invented that inconsiderate law that says, “If something can go wrong, it probably will.” This isn’t because of some mysterious power Murphy has over the law. Rather, it’s us who give Murphy’s Law relevance. When life goes well, little is made of it. After all, we expect things to work out in our favor. But when things go badly, we look for excuses.

As we come to the conclusion of Romans 5, we discover that when the law was introduced in human history it only brought with it an awareness to all the areas in life where things go wrong because of our foolish choices. The law only exacerbated sin and enabled it to increase in the lives of people, it didn’t stop us from our foolishness one bit. However, God’s plan to fix things through grace was the winning ticket. It doesn’t matter what kind of mess we’ve made of life. It doesn’t matter what has gone wrong.

Grace Wins! Every time!

Join me in the winner’s circle on Sunday morning as we take a victory lap that Christ has earned for us.

John
