Annual CMA Conference September 8-10, 2022, in Denver, CO

White Mass Fort Wayne October 18, 2022, 6:30 pm at Cathedral followed by a meal at St Mary's

The White Mass with Bishop Rhoades will be on October 22, 2022, at 6:30 pm at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Fort Wayne. All are invited! This is a chance for health care workers and those who support health care workers have a Mass together followed by sharing a meal.

The banquet will be at 7:30 at St Mary’s Oechtering Hall, which is in St Mary’s main church building. It is just a few blocks down from the Cathedral at 1101 Lafayette St. The price for the meal is $15 per person. There will be no speaker this year, leaving more time for fellowship.

Please RSVP for the meal so that we have enough food. Click HERE to RSVP. Click on Paypal link in the RSVP to pay ahead (preferred).

The CMA 91st Annual Educational Conference
took place in Denver, CO, last weekend.

A number of healthcare workers from this diocese were able to attend this year. This year's theme was Medicine, Morality, and the Media. As usual, it was a wonderful conference.

We hope even more locals will be able to go next year. The 92nd Annual Conference will be in Phoenix, AZ, September 7-9, 2023. Save the date! Please contact us if there are any questions about the conferences or about meeting other Indiana attendees at future events.

2022 Catholic Media Awards: Winners Include Local Indiana Healthcare workers

In July, 2022, the Catholic Medical Association proudly announced that Catholic Media Association Awards were awarded to a number of CMA members.

Local winners from Northeast Indiana include:

In the Jesus – Christology category, Dr. Thomas McGovern took first place for his book, What Christ Suffered: A Doctor’s Journey Through the Passion.

In the Single Story: National Release category, Doctor, Doctor, hosted by CMA members Drs. Thomas McGovern, Andrew Mullally, and Chris Stroud, placed as runner-up for its episode on Human Trafficking.

Congratulations to all of them!

Father Matthew Gutowski's* Covid-19 Prayer

Lord Jesus, our Divine Physician, we place in the protection of your Sacred Heart all physicians, nurses, and health care professionals, as well as all priests, deacons, and chaplains who minister to the sick, asking you to strengthen them during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic. By the power of your Precious Blood, may they all be shielded from contracting the virus and, if they do, from experiencing any serious symptoms or death. As they care for patients on the frontline of the medical community’s battle with this virus, we ask that they will know the grace and power of your presence invigorating them with your zeal and courage when they grow weary or fearful. May all the sick whom they serve receive your healing and know your loving care through their selfless dedication to them. May they have all the medical resources that they need to keep them safe and to bring healing to their patients. In particular, we pray this for all the members of the Catholic Medical Association and we especially offer this through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary and St. Joseph. Amen.

*Penned by Father Gutowski, the former chaplain for the CMA, now battling Covid himself.
In April of 2020, Father Gutowski composed this beautiful prayer for all dealing with COVID-19, whether they be health care professionals or patients. We encourage you to revisit this prayer as we ask God to heal Father Gutowski and all those suffering in this ongoing health crisis.
The Guild encourages all healthcare workers to pray a daily Memorare for the work of the Guild and its members. See prayer to the right.

God, who created man in Your image and intended him to share Your Glory, we thank You for having granted to Your Church the gift of Professor Jerome Lejeune, a distinguished Servant of Life.

He knew how to place his immense intelligence and deep faith at the service of the defense of human life, especially unborn life, always seeking to treat and to cure.  A passionate witness to truth and charity, he knew how to reconcile faith and reason in the sight of todays's world.

By his intercession, and according to Your will, we ask You to grant us the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon become one of Your saints.

MEMORARE
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate! despise not my petitions, but, in thy mercy, hear and answer me.

Amen.
