Coaches Week
From September 17-25, 2022, communities across Canada will be proclaiming National Coaches Week as a thank you and to celebrate the tremendous positive impact you as coaches have on athletes and their communities.

Cycling BC would like to recognize you and say #ThanksCoach during National Coaches Week. We will be highlighting our coaches on social media throughout the week. National Coaches Week provides us with an opportunity to give coaches the recognition they deserve for the time they devote to others and to our sport.

We ask that you use about 15-30 seconds of your time to let our audience know what it means to be a coach. This message can include one or more of the prompts below or feel free to use your own.

Please share a photo or video of you (coaching, if you have one) and either share a message (written or as a video) answering one or more of these prompts.

1. What is your favourite thing about being a coach?
2. What is your best memory from coaching?
3. What inspired you to become a coach?
4. What are your core values as a coach?
5. Can you describe what one of your typical practices/ training looks like?
6. What is one piece of motivating advice you give your athletes?

Please send us your photo/video and message/answers by the end of this week if possible, Friday, Sept 16th. E-mail to jerrick@cyclingbc.net. If your video is too large to email, you can upload it to our dropbox folder here (bookmark me).

We also encourage you to post your own message of support during National Coaches Week using the hashtags #CyclingBC and #ThanksCoach to anyone that contributed to your coaching journey.

Thank you for supporting this important public awareness campaign. We appreciate you.

#ThanksCoach
Coach Management System
To showcase your abilities, safeguard our participants, and prepare for 2023, register with Cycling BC's new Coach Management System.

The process helps you submit previous credentials, including first aid and instructor certificates, and integrates your Cycling BC membership and background screening.

Once registered, leaders can track their progress, update their headshot on their CCN dashboard @ cyclingbc.net/coachaccount and update their written bio @ cyclingbc.net/coachprofile.

Once a leadership pathway is completed, leaders receive a membership certificate and are showcased on our Accredited Coach Registry (cyclingbc.net/coachregistry). Club-Certified and Performance-Certified coaches are also showcased on our website.

Comp-Dev Multi-Sport Modules
If you wish to work with athletes over 16 years old, either pursuing a career in cycling (Train to Compete, Train to Win) or running a private business to support Masters athletes (Competitive For Life), the Performance-Certified (or Comp-Dev) pathway is designed for you.

This pathway includes multi-sport modules that connect you with professional coaches in other sports AND cycling-specific modules through Cycling Canada. However, this pathway is currently in revision ahead of the 2023 season and we recommend pursuing the multi-sport modules from viaSport and CSI Pacific this winter.

Each year, CSI Pacific's International Coaching School offers every module you need, helping you complete this experience with a similar cohort. These are taking place on Mondays this winter.

viaSport is also offering these modules.

We recommend registering as a PERFORMANCE-CERTIFIED coach on our Coach Management System (cyclingbc.net/coachstart) and reviewing the calendar below to select the required modules. Alternatively, read this PDF document.
