Have you registered to vote?

This year's election day will be November 8. Texas State University encourages everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to make your voices heard. Prepare for election day by checking out Texas State’s voting information hub to register to vote or check if you are already registered. The deadline to register in Texas is October 11.

  3MT® Competition 


Are you currently on a Ph.D/Ed.D or master's thesis track? If so, we invite you to compete in the 2022 Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition! 3MT® is a university-wide research communication competition that challenges graduate students to present a compelling oration on their thesis or dissertation in three minutes or less. This competition is an excellent opportunity to promote your research, enhance communication skills, learn about other graduate students’ research, and compete for cash awards. Register today!

Registration to compete is open until Monday, October 3 at 11:59 p.m.

  Shop Talks


Breaking It Down: Graduate-Level Research Writing

This Shop Talks session introduces writers to graduate-level writing expectations. It addresses graduate-level research writing with a focus on the general structure of research-based assignments such as research proposals and research studies for comprehensive exams, theses, or dissertations. Although some specifics about writing up introductions, methods, results, and conclusions will be discussed, this webinar will provide a general overview of the genre.

3MT® Orientation and Tips

Interested in participating in the 3MT® competition? Join Graduate College Assistant Dean, Dr. Patti Giuffre, for a 3MT® orientation and tips session, which will cover everything you need to know about preparing for and participating in the 3MT®. The 3MT® is a research communication competition in which Ph.D.,Ed.D. and master's students on a thesis track, present their thesis or dissertation research in three minutes or less.

  Fall Graduation Application


The deadline to submit a fall 2022 graduation application is September 30. Students who intend to complete all degree requirements this semester (in December) must apply for graduation. Students who failed to meet all degree requirements for summer 2022 or a previous semester must reapply since graduation applications do not roll over from a previous term. If you have questions about your graduation application, please contact gcdegspcl@txstate.edu.

External funding opportunity: P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

Program Overview: provides financial assistance for international women to pursue graduate degrees in the U.S. or Canada
Eligibility: citizenship in a country other than the U.S.; woman pursuing graduate studies; full-time enrollment during the 2023-2024 academic year; intention to return to the applicant’s home country and utilize her education to improve society
Citizenship: international
Benefits: up to $12,500
Deadline: October 15, 2022 (campus deadline). Please register for the upcoming Dollars & Sense Presentation (see below) to learn more about the campus application process and deadline. If you are interested in applying but unable to attend the webinar, please contact us via email at gcexternalfunds@txstate.edu no later than October 1.
Internal funding opportunity: Graduate College Research Support Fellowships The applications for the Graduate College Research Support Fellowships will close on November 15. These are competitive fellowships designed to support master's students' thesis research and doctoral students' dissertation research.

Dollars & Sense Presentation: P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship

The P.E.O. Sisterhood supports several philanthropic educational projects that provide assistance to women pursuing graduate degrees. The P.E.O. International Peace Scholarship supports women from other countries who are pursuing graduate study in the United States. Learn more about this scholarship, find out if you are eligible to apply, and get instructions for joining the campus application process. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with and gain valuable insights from previous recipients of this award.
