The Toronto Weekly

Dear Members and Friends,

Today marks the 100th Anniversary of the founding of The Christian Community, which took place in Dornach, Switzerland in 1922. The Act of Consecration will be celebrated this morning in German at 9 am with a sermon in English.

On Sunday, Rev. Jonah Evans will share a few words immediately following the service to commemorate our founding.

Revs. Kate Kennedy, Jonah Evans and Patrick Kennedy will travel to Dornach later that evening of the 18th for a week-long international synod.  Rev. Kate Kennedy will return on Sunday, September 25th.  Revs. Jonah Evans and Patrick Kennedy will return on October 12th. The service on Sunday, September 25th will take place as regularly scheduled.

If you need to reach a priest during the next week, please reach out to Rev. Susan Locey (contact information at the bottom of this email.)

with warmth,
Kate
(also on behalf of Jonah,
 Patrick, Inken and Susan)

The Weekly Word

“The reception of the Christ sun into our heart, this most intimate, mystical process, is the start of a world-shattering transformation, a transformation of human beings right to the level of their body and blood, indeed, a transformation of the earth itself. Christianity is not just about inwardness; it lives in trust of the lion-like prowess of the mystical forces of the heart to overcome the world.  What inwardly is the mystery of Christ in our hearts is, outwardly, culture in the most profound meaning of the world — transformation, transfiguration, the penetration of physical matter by the sun.  Christian inwardness is not just compatible with the earthly tasks of human beings, it makes the solution of these tasks possible.”

~Rudolf Frieling, from The Hope of the World: Contemplations and Aphorisms, 1986.
