Dear KTC Community Members,

As we approach the end of September, we hope you are taking advantage of the decrease in temperatures and the increase in court availability. Forget sweater weather - this is tennis weather!

In this newsletter, we provide a wrap-up of the delayed Men’s Singles Final which took place on Sunday, September 4th. We also remind you to get your team organized and registered for the KTC Cup Tournament & Social. Keep reading to learn about our modified Junior Day, Lost & Found and another welcome donation.

KTC Junior Skills Session
September 24th 10:30 am to 12:30 pm

Juniors aged 7 to 12 who are not able to independently play a full match, but are still looking to develop their tennis skills, are invited to join us for a fun morning of skill-building activities this Saturday, September 24th.
No advance registration is required and the session is free of charge.
Registration is still open for the KTC Cup
September 30 - October 2

There is still time to register for the 2nd annual KTC Cup & Social.

Format: The KTC Cup will see groups of four (2 men & 2 women) compete against other foursomes in a unique three-set match format; one set each of Ladies Doubles, Men's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. After the second set, each group will nominate one mixed doubles pair to contest the 3rd set. The squad that wins two out of three sets will move on to the next round.
Since it’s a Davis Cup style challenge, each group will select a country/region (real or fictional) they wish to represent. We encourage members to get creative and show their spirit! So, reach out to your friends and hitting buddies, put together your foursome, and get out there and practice and play together.

First round play will start Friday, September 30 at 5:30PM, with matches continuing until approximately 9:30PM. Play will continue Saturday, with finals and semi-finals slated for Sunday. There will be a barbecue social on Saturday evening starting at 5:30.

As always, the timing of matches is subject to change if the weather doesn’t cooperate. If matches are delayed, stewards and organizers will keep members up to date about revised match times.
Follow our Twitter feed for the most current tournament & court information.

The KTC Cup is exclusively for current KTC members. For an entry fee of just $60 per foursome ($15/person), each group is guaranteed at least 2 matches. Special prizes for the winners and finalists, as well as snack packs for all!

The Saturday evening barbecue will be the final organized social event of the season so non-KTC Cup players are encouraged to sign up ($10/person).

Registration closes Monday, September 26th at 9:00pm so sign up now!!

Once you’ve put your 4-person squad together and settled on a country/region to represent, you’re ready to register!
  • Send your team/country name along with all of your team members to ktc@kingstontennisclub.com. Country choices are on a first come/first serve basis.
  • Please ensure that all participants are available to play Friday evening and any time on both Saturday and Sunday to avoid potential defaults/walkovers.
  • When registering, please let the stewards know if you have any food restrictions.
If you want to take part but are having difficulty finding partners, let the stewards know! They may be able to help you connect with other members looking for players.

And if you would like to volunteer to help out over the weekend, please contact Asia at
membership@kingstontennisclub.com to find out how you can help!
KTC Men's Singles Club Champion Crowned

Although there was a delay in getting it scheduled, the men's final was worth the wait for the small but enthusiastic crowd on hand to watch two of KTC's finest battle it out. Twenty three years (!!) after his last KTC championship, Jeff Elwood defeated Ben Lewis in two sets, 6-4, 6-2. Congratulations Jeff - it's great to see you back in action at the club!
Fall Memberships Still Available

Beginning September 1, memberships went on sale at the reduced fall rates:

$115: Juniors and Students
$180: Adults
$270: Couples

Fall memberships provide all the benefits of a regular membership including online booking, night play on our five lit courts, and tennis for several more months, depending on the weather.
Thank you Sunil Chaudhry!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sunil for his donation of a high quality 48" Samsung Smart TV that has been installed in the upstairs lounge. In addition to making rainy days more bearable for the junior campers (and instructors), some members took the opportunity to gather in the new space to watch the U.S. Open Men's Final!

Yet another great addition to our beautiful new clubhouse!
Please stop by the Lost & Found  (across from the steward's kiosk on the ground floor) to retrieve your personal belongings as all Lost & Found items will be donated or disposed of on Monday, October 3rd.
AED & First Aid Kit Installed

Although hopefully not needed, we have now mounted the Automated External Defibrillator and First Aid kit on the exterior wall adjacent to the kiosk window.
If you have any questions or comments about anything in our newsletter, please feel free to get in touch with us.
