VJLS-JH 理事会では、多様な文化を持つコミュニティの成長に貢献してくださる理事会員4 名を募集しています。ご興味のある方はぜひご応募ください。特に、会計、人事、資金開発などの経歴があり、毎月10時間程度、理事会および委員会に参加できる方を募集しています。詳細、職務内容については、こちらをご覧ください。応募またはご質問は、governance@vjls-jh.com までご連絡ください。理事会により選ばれた候補者は、12月10日の年次総会にて選出されます。
The VJLS-JH Board of Directors is looking to recruit four (4) community-mind directors who can help supporting the growth and vibrance of our culturally diverse community. We encourage all interested individuals to apply, however we are specifically looking for individuals with a background in accounting, human resources, or fund development and who can contribute 10 hours per month to attend Board and Committee meetings. Candidates selected by the Board will be elected at the Annual General Meeting on December 10.

VJLS-JHの 園児、学生、そのご家族ではない方で、引き続き VJLS 図書館を利用する為には新しく図書館メンバーシップ登録が必要になります。メンバーシップ期間は12ヶ月で費用は＄50です。
この新料金は、図書館管理システム ソフトウェアの維持費として、また図書館に必要な新しい書籍や資料の購入に使用されます。最終的には本の読み聞かせ、それぞれの世代の読書クラブなど、コミュニティメンバーに提供するプログラムを図書館で開催したいと考えています。

As a non-VJLS student, to continue to have access to the VJLS library, a new library membership will be required. For a 12-month membership, a fee of $50 will be charged. These new fees help contribute towards supporting the cost of the library management system software and support us in purchasing new books and materials needed for the library space. Eventually, we hope to run programming in our library to offer to our community members, like story time sessions and book clubs for all ages.
Alternatively, you can set up a library membership in-person at VJLS-JH during our office hours. We encourage you to call in advance to make sure someone can be of assistance to you. 604-254-2551.

この1 年半にわたり当時の図書館スタッフと誠実なボランティアのご支援のもと、図書館システムのデジタル化プロジェクトに取り組んできました。この新しいデジタルシステムにより、図書館利用者はバーコード スキャナーを使用して書籍を自分で貸し出し/返却処理が可能となります。また、オンラインでカタログを閲覧し、どの本が貸し出し可能で、どの本が貸し出し中かを確認できます。

As you may know, for the past year and a half, through the dedicated efforts of a library consultant and loyal volunteers, we have been working on a project to digitize and reorganize our library system. This new system will allow users to take out and return books by themselves using a barcode scanner, browse our catalogue online; having access to knowing which books are available or not available at the facility.

Donations Welcome!
Do you have books you would like to donate to the library? Email a picture of the books to library@vjls-jh.com before you bring them to the School. We accept books of any genre. However, what we accept depends on the condition of the book(s) and if we believe they will be relevant to our current collection. Books that are more likely to be accepted are children’s books, manga, and books published after the year 2000.

9月10日（土）、２０２２年度の入学式・始業式が行われました。「入学おめでとう」のバッチをつけたキンダー、小学1年、基礎科Aの生徒さんが新しくVJLSに加わってくれました。これから長く続く日本語教育を一緒にVJLSでがんばりましょうね。
在校生も大勢戻ってきてくれました。今年度はアダルトクラスも対面に戻り、学校がいっそう賑やかになりました。始業式では、理事、オフィススタッフ、友の会、そして先生の紹介がありました。
On Saturday, September 10, the opening ceremony for the 2022-2023 school year was held and Kinder, Elementary grade 1, and Fundamental A students had their first day at VJLS. We look forward to studying Japanese together with you.
Many of our students from last school year have also returned to VJLS. The adult classes have returned to in-person this year and we’re sure that it’s making the school even more lively. During the opening ceremonies, we introduced board members, the office staff, Tomono kai, and teachers.

お月見
Otsukimi -Full Moon Festival

9月はお月さまがきれいでした。普通科小学1年のクラスは、おつきみについて勉強しました。そして先生と一緒におつきみ団子を作りました。中がよく見えるように池田先生がガラスのお鍋を用意してくれました。水が沸騰して泡が大きくなる様子や、茹でたお団子が底から上がってくる様子に小1のみんなは大興奮。出来上がったお団子はもちろん試食。世界で一番おいしい！と歓声が上がり、この日の文化活動は大成功に終わりました。
Did you enjoy the beautiful moon in September? Elementary grade 1 students learned about “Otsukimi” by making Otsukimi Dango (Rice dumplings) in their class. Ikeda-sensei prepared a glass pot so that we could see the inside clearly. Students were very excited to see the bubbles growing as the water boiled and the Dango rose from the bottom. At the end of the class, they tasted it together. Everyone enjoyed it and said that this is the most delicious dango in the world!

Weekday Evening Classes are 10-week programs that are ideal for quickly learning the Japanese language and culture for travel or business purposes. Beginner classes are offered on Tuesdays and Advanced classes are offered on Wednesdays/Thursdays. The Fall Term (Oct-Dec) will begin from Oct 13.

平日の放課後にVJLSで勉強するクラブです。
お子さんにもっと日本語を学習させたい、だけど集中が続かない。そういった悩みを抱えている方はいらっしゃいませんか？ バンクーバーではなかなか見ることのできない教材ドリルを使用してお子さまに自学自習の習慣を身につけてもらうのが目的です。 漢字や計算に自信がつきます。
日程: 10月4日（火）からの火曜日と（または）木曜日 (人数や希望数によっては他の曜日も開講予定)
時間: 午後4時から6時
対象年齢: Grade1からGrade9(Grade10以上は要相談)
科目: 国語、算数(数学)、社会から選択
月額: 週1日2時間の場合$100、週2日4時間の場合$150

This is a study club at VJLS after school on weekdays. The learning materials that will be used are from Japan and rarely available in Vancouver. The class and its materials will help your child develop good self-studying habits and have fun while learning! It will help them gain confidence in Kanji and calculation.
Dates: Every Tuesday and/or Thursday starting October 4, 2022.
(Other days may be available depending on the number of students and requests)
Times: 4- 6pm
Age: Grade 1 to 9 (Grade 10 and above upon request)
Subjects: Select from Japanese, math, or social studies
Monthly Tuition: $100 for 2 hours (1 day a week) / $150 for 4 hours (2 days a week)

バンクーバー日本語学校が試験会場となる2022年度12月の日本語能力検定試験（JLPT）は、締め切りました。多くの受験申し込みをありがとうございました。試験は年に２回開催します。次の検定試験は2023日7月2日（日）です。 今回受験する皆さん、頑張ってください！
Application for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) for December 2022 is closed. Thank you very much for your registration. We will be offering the JLPT twice a year. The next examination will be held on July 2, 2023. Details to come. Good luck with your exam!

ヨガワークショップYogaOmuに参加しよう！
Daniel Ameriインストラクターは、長年に亘ってヨガをする中で、インドの古式ヨガはあまり一般的ではないと感じていました。現代のヨガには良いものが沢山ありますが、アーサナやポーズにより焦点を当てているものが多いです。YogaOmでは、瞑想に焦点を当て静寂を体験し、呼吸に意識を向け気分をコントロールします。また、リラックスすることで消化を良くし、瞑想により集中力を高めることを目標としています。 お子さまのお迎えまでの間に参加してみませんか？もちろん一般の方も大歓迎です！

Instructor, Daniel Ameri has practiced yoga for many years. He believes that finding old school Indian yoga classes can be rare these days. Most modern yoga classes are good but many concentrate too much on Asana or posture focus. At YogaOm, the focus is on meditation, stillness of posture, awareness of breath for mood control, and concentration through meditation, resulting in improved digestion. Join YogaOm while your child is in the school! Non VJLS-JH students and parents are also welcome!

図書館ボランティアによるファンドレージングのイベントとして本の販売を行います。 子どもの本、漫画、ハードカバー、単行本等の日本語の古本がお安く手に入るチャンスです。
日程：10月29日（土）9時半～2時 ※現金販売のみとさせていただきます。
古本市に備え、本のドネーション、特に子ども用の本を募りたいと思います。 本の種類や数の管理の為、ドネーションができる方は library@vjls-jh.comまで本の写真を送付ください。上記の写真を参考に、本の数が少なければ表紙の写真、10冊以上など数が多くなる場合は背表紙の写真を送付してください。
古本市の準備を土曜日に図書館でできる方、当日の設置、片付け、販売のお手伝いのボランティアができる方は、上記の図書のメールアドレスにご連絡をお願い致します。
This book sale is put on by our library volunteers as a fundraising event. This is your chance to get used Japanese books such as children's books, comics, and hardcovers at a low price!

In preparation for the used book market, we would like to collect book donations, especially children's books. 新年度が始まって、1か月が経とうとしています。小さなお子さん達はやっと慣れてきた頃でしょうか。 今回、高校3年生の保護者が懇親会を主催します。
お子さんの年齢を超えた保護者間の繋がりや、情報交換、サポートができる保護者のネットワークを作るきっかけになるような「懇親会」を企画したいと思います。まず初回は、「子育て」「学校、家庭での日本語学習について」等、テーマをあまり限定せず、経験談を共有、悩み相談、情報交換をしませんか。
予め参加人数を把握したいので、ご興味のある方はinfo@vjls-jh.comに連絡ください。当日参加も大歓迎です！

A month has passed since the new school year began. We hope your children are getting used to the school. Parents of senior high school grade 3 will host a social gathering this month which will provide an opportunity for parents to connect with each other, create a network to exchange information, and support each other. For the first meeting, you will have an opportunity to share your experiences, challenges, exchange information on topics such as "Child-raising", "How your child can improve Japanese at school and home" and so on.
We would like to know the number of participants in advance, so please contact us at info@vjls-jh.com. You are also welcomed to join us day-of!
