NSW Legislative Council inquiry highlights need for more timber to meet wood fibre needs
AFPA NSW has welcomed the state’s legislative council committee report on the Long-term sustainability and future of the timber and forest products industry, which calls for more investment and planning to ensure NSW has enough forest resource to meet our future wood fibre needs.

European Parliament continues to recognise Primary Woody Biomass as a Renewable Energy Source
This week, the European Parliament once again voted to recognise primary woody biomass as a renewable energy source.

EU anti-deforestation law could lock out some Aussie agriculture exports
There are concerns new European Union regulations around deforestation-free products will lock out many Australian beef producers from the European market. Some other products could also be captured.

New Forests turns to agriculture: AFR
Sydney-based New Forests, which manages an $8.7 billion portfolio of mainly forestry and conservation assets, has turned to the mainstream agricultural sector as the driver of future growth after bedding down its $600 million acquisition of Lawson Grains from Macquarie earlier this year.

Responsible Wood Community Grants Program launched
Responsible Wood has launched its Community Grants Program for a third year, with the aim of supporting local communities to develop, design and implement small community-based projects in their local area in conjunction with their local Responsible Wood certified company.

Funding available per project is $2,000 to $15,000. For all grant information, click
