 Dear Emory Healthcare Provider,
  • Creating a safe working environment for our patients, their families, and our colleagues is always critical—even more so now, as COVID is still very prevalent in our community.
  • One way Emory Healthcare providers contribute to a safe environment is through the annual completion of the Provider-Patient Safety Module (PPSM), which is designed to keep providers updated on infection control and patient safety requirements.
  • To ensure accurate tracking of your PPSM status, please provide your NPI (10-digit number) as part of your PPSM profile. To review or add your NPI to your profile, log in to PPSM and review your Profile information. Scroll down to the NPI section of your profile to add or update your NPI.
  • The PPSM is anticipated to take about 30 minutes to complete. You will receive 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 credit for completing the module. The CME certificate will auto-populate when the module is completed.
  • If you do not complete your PPSM components by the December 2 deadline, your Emory Healthcare clinical privileges will be suspended.

Follow the below checklist to complete the 2022 PPSM requirements by the deadline of 11:59 p.m., Friday, December 2, 2022

1. Complete your influenza vaccination requirement by completing A or B below.

  • *Note: You may complete other portions of the module before getting your vaccination. However, you cannot fully satisfy the module requirements until you have either uploaded your vaccination documentation or received an exemption.

A. Get your influenza vaccination.
  • Emory Healthcare (EHC) or Emory University (EU) employed providers, if you are vaccinated at Employee Health or an EHC flu vaccination event, you must complete the online consent form in PeopleSoft Workplace Health (HOME), prior to getting vaccinated.
    1. If you plan on obtaining your vaccine at an EHC Employee Health location or EHC flu vaccination event, only fill out the consent form no more than 24 hours before obtaining your flu vaccine as one of the questions in the consent form asks if you have had a fever within the last 24 hours.
    2. For instructions on completing your consent form, visit ourehc.org/flu (must be logged in to EHC Workspace or on the EHC network to access).
  • You may be vaccinated at a retail pharmacy, physician’s office, an EHC flu vaccination event, or EHC Employee Health (click here for locations).
  • You will need to attest in the module that you received the influenza vaccination for the 2022-2023 flu season. Please retain your documentation as it may be requested.
  • The vaccine is mandatory for all providers, except those with an approved medical or religious exemption. See B below if you would like to file an exemption.
B. File your request for a medical or religious exemption to influenza vaccination by September 30, 2022.
  • The vaccine is mandatory for all providers, except those with approved medical or religious exemptions. Remember: You must apply for the exemption each year.
  • Egg-free vaccines are available at Employee Health locations; an egg allergy is not grounds for a medical exemption.
  • To submit a completed medical or religious exemption request form (form available in Employee Health or in the Influenza PPSM), email the completed form to employee.health.mdcredentialing@emoryhealthcare.org.
  • You must state your exemption reason when filing a medical exemption.
  • The deadline for submitting your medical or religious exemption form is September 30, 2022.

2. Complete all requirements in the PPSM at https://ppsm.eushc.org/app/providerassessment/.

  1. Access the module at https://ppsm.eushc.org/app/providerassessment/. Select the “Click here to access Provider Patient Safety Module” box at the top of the page. Select the “I want to complete my Annual Provider Patient Safety Module” option to begin.
  2. Self-attest that you received the influenza vaccination within the module in the Influenza Vaccination section (you will not need to submit documentation). If filing a medical or religious exemption to influenza vaccination, you will need to submit exemption paperwork.
  3. Complete the TB Screening evaluation section and/or complete the positive TB section if you have had a documented past positive TB test. Annual TB testing is not required by EHC unless otherwise indicated based on your TB evaluation. Complete the questionnaire in the module to determine if a TB test is required for you this year.
  4. Complete the online curriculum in the appropriate sections. This includes:
    • Infection control test
    • Six modules: Compliance, Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), Patients with English Language or Hearing Barriers, CMS Requirements for Admit Orders, Behavioral Health Patient Management, and Medical Restraints vs Violent or Self-destructive Restraint/Seclusion.
  5. Review, add or update your immunizations in the immunizations section.

Thank you for contributing to a safe environment for our patients and their families.
