A Message From Your WH Cornerstone Team
Hello Friend!

We recognize that the stock market is on many of your minds so we wanted to share a few thoughts. On Tuesday we saw stocks fall sharply after a key August inflation report came in hotter than expected. The drop erased nearly all of the recent rally for stocks, pulling the S&P 500 back toward its early September levels.

The market is betting on further aggressive interest rate hikes by the Fed. The report is one of the last the Fed will see ahead of their Sept. 20-21 meeting, where the central bank is expected to deliver its third consecutive 0.75 percentage point interest rate hike to tamp down inflation.

Our view is inflation is a long-term cancer that needs to be dealt with. While the interest rate hikes may cause a recession, it is needed to stem inflation. We continue to tell our clients to stay the course.

On a different, Paula will also be the guest speaker at the Duxbury Senior Center & Duxbury Free Library's Live Well, Age Well 5-part education series for adults of all ages. She'll be talking about the Gift of Preparedness which includes learning about financial, health, and legal documents that every adult should understand and consider, as well as, thinking about your legacy. Register here to join us on October 11th. Feel free to sign up for the other program days on September 27, October 25 and November 8. Dinner is included.

If you've been thinking about getting a second opinion on your investments or considering a financial plan, reach out now to schedule a time before the fall rush.

Cheers,

Widowhood: Grief has many faces

Grief has many faces. As the widow, you are consumed by the loss of the person, your “Person”, who touched every aspect of your life, leaving a void everywhere you turn, without respite.  Indeed, widowhood starts with what’s called the “primary loss” of the person who died.

But it is so much more complex, spiraling outward to trigger countless areas of “secondary loss” resulting from the primary loss. You will find yourself dealing with such losses in no particular order or frequency.
