A message from the Board

As we move into September the season is wrapping up.  A few teams have the odd friendly match, while others have started their indoor training.

On the field we have seen fantastic performances by all the teams. And we hope that the joy from feeling the ball come off the middle of the bat or seeing the stumps flying will sustain you over the off season until we can get out on the field once again.

The board is now starting to plan for 2023, formulating goals for the club.  If you think there is something we need to do as a club, reach out to a board member and given them some input. It is your club and all ideas are welcome.

Lastly, we hope to see you all soon at the annual award celebrations.  More details will be shared by the Social Committee soon.

Keep up the great effort, have fun and go well!

A visit from the UK

The Old Rutlishians were on and end of season tour to Stockholm and on Saturday, 10-September, they played in a tri-series against the Herr 1XI and SCC Gladiators.

Extra AGM for Swedish Cricket

The chaos surrounding the governance and management of Swedish cricket continues unabated.

In the last week of August an extra AGM was held in Malmo for the SCF, a result of a petition by 30+ clubs who stated that they have no confidence in the board.  In the AGM the motion of no confidence was passed (by 36 out of 51 clubs present). Unusually the board was not replaced, as firstly there were no vetted candidates and secondly there was no agenda item for the elections to be held.

What this means is uncertain. The board has not received any information from Cricket Sweden.  However we understadn that RF has started a working group to consider the "Cricket Problem".

This week the SCF's Valberedning has requested nominations for board members.  If you are interested, you need to submit your nomination to Monica Söderberg - monica.soderberg@cricket.rf.se - before 2-October

National Champions

Five members of the Stockholm CC Old Boys were in the winning SCF's National Championship team for 50+ year olds - the Stockholm Fors. And brought a new trophy back from Mariestad to our kansli.

The Stockholm CC players representing Stockholm Fors in the tournament were:

  • Anil Porob
  • Jeffery Alexander
  • Karl Langston
  • Wayne Scott
  • Yasir Abdul Quadir

Highlights of the tournament were winning 2 out of 3 group games. After which 3 teams (Skåne Storm, Stockholm Lavin and Stockholm Fors) were tied in the table. In the resulting golden ball competition to determine the finalists, Jeff calmly secured Stockholm Fors a finals place

In the final against the Skåne Storm, Anil Porob was awarded the Player of the Match.

Herr 1XI Update

The Herr 1XI team has had solid season, with many highs and a few lows (especially with several rained off matches having a huge impact on table positions). But we secured our licence for Superettan and have built a solid foundation in place for 2023.

Result wise in the 3 competitions we finished in:
  • 3rd place in the 40-Over series,
  • 2nd place in the Swedish Cup (T10) Group, and
  • 2nd place in the T20 Superettan series.
