BOARDING NEWSLETTER
Kia ora whānau and welcome back to our week 7 of term 3 boarding newsletter.
Winters parting shot and a busy week!
The Week So Far

It’s been good to have all the boys back after time away on tournaments last week. The boys have stayed busy and there has been a good energy about the place as we move rapidly through term 3.

Winter sport has finished, so it is important to keep the boys busy over the next few weeks. This week, there has been plenty happening around the place.

Years 11-13 enjoyed a relaxing evening at the He Puna Taimoana hot pools on Tuesday evening. This gave some of our weary sportsmen a chance to ease their aching joints. Yoga with Kim continued Wednesday and again boys enjoyed the chance for some mindfulness and to stretch out.

Thursday evening was a termly Tribe event. Boys started the evening with an amazing Chinese themed banquet dinner, which was delicious and a favourite of lots of boys and staff!! Then the boys took part In a tribe multi-sport competition in the sports hall. It was great to see mass participation and the Tribe leaders did a great job organising teams of 10 within their tribes. Donohue won the final of the multi sports competition, beating Flood 4-3. We have lots of photos from the evening which will be shared in the newsletter.

The junior Dance at Rangi Ruru is next Friday 16 September, and we are firming up numbers to organise transport for the boys. This promises to be a fun packed evening for our lads. Check with your son to see if he is interested in attending.

Enjoy the weekend wherever you are. Best wishes Dai and the boarding team.

A reminder...

When picking up your boys for the weekend, can you please double check they have signed out. This makes sure everyone is safe and the weekend go smoothly.

1st XI Hockey Tournament Week

A superb effort from the 1st  XI Hockey team last week in North Harbour for tournament week.  The boys played well all week to make it into the finals on Saturday against Wairarapa College.  At half time they were down 2-0 but never gave up and finished the game with a 2-1 loss.  They finished 2nd in the India Shield and received silver medals that they can be very proud of. The Year 13 boys Wil Pattinson, Nic Mones Cazon, Ben O'Kane, and Bradley Coll were acknowledged by the team for their final game with St Bedes as they left the field on Saturday.  Thanks to the coaches, management, school, and parents for supporting the boys for their tournament week.

Snow!!!

St Bedes and large parts of Canterbury were treated to a beautiful white wake up. Although it didn't last long it was fun to watch an Australian boarder get super excited about fresh snow.

Friday night Wiremu, Tai, Tihema, Lui, Rocco and Harry went to see the movie Muru. It is about the Tuhoe raids from 2007. Close to home for Tihema who is from the Tuhoe Iwi.
Outside Saturday to burn off some energy with no rugby last weekend.
Senior boarders trip to He Puna Taimoana, the New Brighton Hot Pools Tuesday night. A lot of fun, excellent behavior and represented the school well.
Great to see the boys getting involved in Wednesday night yoga.
Thursday night Inter Tribe Sports
