Please welcome Lauren Jewett (she/her), Director of Spiritual Engagement and Campus Minister at CA House. Lauren brings her experience of facilitating immersive community service work and comprehensive sexuality education with a focus on empowerment and coaching to her programmatic and spiritual care work at CA House. She is a 2018 Dean’s Scholar and Master of Divinity graduate of Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, CA, where she was awarded the Beloved Community Award for her contributions to creating a vibrant and transformational PSR Community,
Lauren’s greatest passion is to facilitate and co-create brave spaces where young people are invited to show up as their full selves, with permission to continue to discover and be curious about who they are and what they think, believe, and feel about the world around them. She recently completed a 9-month residency as a Chaplain at the UC Davis Medical Center, providing spiritual care and support to patients and staff during the peaks of the pandemic.
Lauren is a soon to be ordained member of Parkside Community Church, in Sacramento.
A farm girl at heart, when not working, Lauren can be found outside on the water or in the mountains, paddleboarding, hammocking, traveling the world, gardening, playing with her dog, or, if inside: writing letters, reading a good book or working on her blog of inclusive and diverse youth literature recommendations.
"A Story of Loss and Founding"
Lauren will be reflecting on 9/11 - as the terrorist attack is what spurred the then CA House Campus Minister and board to envision and pursue building the Multifaith Living Community, and then moving towards reflecting on who we are called to be as Christians 21 years after 9/11, and to use our power and privilege to be in solidarity with "folx" on the margins. Psalm 14 and Luke 15:1-10.
Coffee Connect

DCC's COVID Precautions Update: The COVID Community Level has dropped from HIGH to MEDIUM in Yolo County. COVID Community Transmission, which refers to healthcare facilities, remains HIGH. Yolo County Health Department
Vaccination Required
We continue to require full vaccination, including one booster shot, or testing within 72 hours of events at DCC. A second booster shot is recommended for all who are eligible.
9:00 a.m. service: N95, KN95 or KN94 masks are highly recommended but not required.
10:30 a.m. service: N95, KN95 or KN94 masks continue to be required. This precaution provides protection for vulnerable congregants and allows young, unvaccinated children to be in the Sanctuary.
On Campus – Masking Highly Recommended
DCC's Session continues to HIGHLY RECOMMEND, but not require, masking indoors as we return to our in-person activities. Having said that, groups are encouraged to discuss and agree to the precautions they will take so that everyone in the group feels safe. Groups may choose to require more, but not less, stringent precautions.
For all who attend Sunday School, we require proof of full vaccination, including booster shots for all who are eligible.
Discovery Time (DT) is a short in-person Bible story time offered in the Sanctuary during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service, and is followed by Sunday School. Children attending DT will be asked to follow the same COVID precautions as those attending the service: i.e., full vaccination (as eligible) or testing within 72 hours of events at DCC, and high-quality masks. Everyone age 2 and over will be required to wear an N95, KN95 or KF94 mask while indoors. We have additional masks of this kind on hand.
For children who do not wish to go into the Sanctuary for DT, or who cannot be vaccinated or test, childcare will be provided outdoors and DT will be available for you to watch from home on the DCC YouTube channel. For all children attending Sunday School or other childcare sessions, please be sure to bring proof of vaccination for your children, or email a photo of their card tokate@dccpres.org.
