As Astbury Golf Clubs centenary year draws to a close it is great to see that the competitive juices continue to flow. Twenty five members who had battled through numerous knockout matches to arrive at the 2022 Finals Day.
On the first Tee at 0745 were Joe McAllister and Rhys Barber ready for a final 36 holes to discover who would collect the Junior Trophy from Club Captain Dr Mike Sumner at the close of play. For the next hour at 15 minute intervals the players were sent out to to battle with the

Finals Day is the culmination of effort by so many, resulting in trophies for so few. Played over a course presented in the best possible condition it all came down to how good you were on the day. All of the contestants had already played some magnificent golf. Just reaching the Finals is no mean achievement and it is fair to say that for many it will be the highlight of their golfing experience. Unfortunately it is a competition and there has to be winners and losers.
