California Coastal Clean Up Day
September 17, 2022

Be a part of a global effort to rid the worldwide ocean and watersheds of trash and debris.  Doheny State Beach will be partnering with the City of Dana Point and Mission Lutheran Church to clean from the jetty to south day-use along with the San Juan creek watershed.
Meet at the picnic tables adjacent to the main lifeguard headquarters.  Thank you for bringing along work gloves, drinking water and dress for the weather.
Check out our website for updated information.

Foundation Table at the Ohana Festival
The Foundation will have a table in the Storytelling Cove at the Ohana Festival.  If you are attending, we hope you'll stop by to visit us and purchase your Doheny gear.  The Festival is Sept. 30 - Oct. 2.

FREE Halloween MOVIE IN THE PARK featuring Hotel Transylvania will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22nd. We will have some interpretive booths to visit before the movie so you can check out the critters who call Doheny home. Thanks to our contributing Sponsors Mike Ahumada/ReMAX, State Parks and Killer Dana.  The movie will be on the North area grass.  Bring your chairs and blankets for a spooktacular time!

Do Ho Cafe will have refreshments for purchase.  Parking fees in effect.

Event starts at 5:30 with movie at 7pm.
Visitor Center & Aquarium Updates
The Visitor Center/Aquarium is currently open in September on Fridays 11-2 and Saturday and Sundays 10-4, but will be closed the weekend of the Ohana Festival (Sept. 30-Oct.2).

Our visitation numbers are up for the season with people enjoying our aquarium and tidepool.  We did have a loss of one of our favorite marine animals, Lilly the lobster.  Lilly passed away while trying to molt (shedding of her shell).  She was estimated to be about 50 years old and about 10lbs, and was rescued by the Foundation from a local Fish Market. Lilly had been with us for approximately two years.  She engaged our guests while in her tank and was a very interactive member of the aquarium. She would climb up the pier in her tank and wave her front legs out of the water asking to be fed every time our aquarist was near her tank with clams being her favorite treat.  Last month she was attempting to molt, her second molt in less than 8 months, and the stress was too much and she didn't survive. Although she is no longer with us, we were able to provide her with a home and great care.  We appreciated the opportunity to educate our visitors with her story.  She leaves 4 other Lobsters at the Aquarium ready to continue her legacy.

Through your support at our Pop Up, Visitor Center and Memberships we are able to continue our dedication to the protection of the park's beaches, facilities, marine refuge and historical and cultural stories.

Thank you for your support!
DOHENY STORE POP UP is located on the boardwalk just north of the bike rental. Look for the yellow tents.  We are open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10-4 (weather permitting).  We have some new Hoodies and ladies shirts with new inventory arriving.

We will relocate on Sept. 23-25 to the left of our usual spot due to the Ohana Festival set up.  The Pop Up on the Boardwalk will not be open during the Festival dates of Sept. 30, Oct.1 & 2.

We will resume our Pop Up schedule of Friday, Saturday & Sunday on the Boardwalk on Oct. 7th.

Stop by and say Hi and get your favorite Doheny goods and gear.  All the proceeds stay in the park.
