What is church membership all about?
If you would like to explore what membership at GBC entails, you are invited to join us on Sundays 9 and 16 October at 7.00pm at GBC. During these two evenings you will have the opportunity to find out about the structures, ethos, and heartbeat of GBC, the responsibilities and privileges of membership as well as a time for questions. These are information sessions for anyone wanting to find out more. Some may then want to pursue an application for membership. If you would like to attend, please speak to Carolyn.
We are working hard preparing to welcome a family of four in a few weeks time . They have been in Lebanon since 2015. Please will you consider blessing this family with a gift from this wish list? Thank you so much .
If Prison Walls Could Speak
A critically acclaimed professional theatre performance is coming to Godmanchester on Friday 30 September at 7:30pm with the profits being used to help fund the arrival of a refugee family into the town.

The play, If Prison Walls Could Speak, is based on the book "Imprisoned with ISIS" and tells the true story of a Christian aid worker who was imprisoned in Sudan.

It is a production for Christians and non-Christians alike and has been stirring audiences since debuting in September 2021, including MP Fiona Bruce who reported “The skill and stage direction was phenomenal, hugely impacting for everyone [...] I thought I knew about the Persecuted Church, but this play brought it to life. A must-see."

Tickets, which cost £10, are available from the GBC Office or online at ticketsource.co.uk/godmanchesterbaptist or by scanning the QR code

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES
It’s that time of the year when we start preparing Christmas shoeboxes once again! Last year 2417 shoeboxes containing gifts for all the family were sent to Romania through Amen Trust. At short notice we contributed 30 complete shoeboxes and 3 sacks of homemade blankets and children’s toys from GBC. It was a great effort!

AMEN is a Christian Charity that was set up in 1995 by Operation Mobilisation to channel resources to Christians working to make a difference in their own countries. Each year the Christmas shoeboxes are sent to Romania where they are distributed to gypsy and other needy families by local Christians. This often opens doors to follow up visits by church members.
Over the years support and donations have been used by God to bring great blessing to people, both practically and spiritually.

If you would like to contribute to this ministry this year, now is the time to start collecting items and/or knitting gloves for both children and adults and miniature teddies to go in the boxes or blankets/ hats/ scarves etc to be sent alongside.

Do pick up a leaflet from Carolyn or the Church Reception as this will give detailed information about what can be included in the shoeboxes and what to avoid!

It will also tell you how to pack your box when the time comes. Please keep hold of this leaflet as it needs to be attached to your box later!

Any questions, please speak to Carolyn.
Other Notices
Sponsored Bike Ride: Alan Webb and some of his youth workers and friends are doing a sponsored bike ride this Sunday (18 September) covering most of the villages that The Connections Bus Project works in, from Sawtry to Haslingfield (50 miles).
The charity is currently providing youth work services to 14 communities a week and have interest from another 6 communities. In order to meet this need, they need to get their second youth bus back on the road (it has been parked up since April 2020). It requires quite a bit of mechanical and cosmetic work to make it usable again. To sponsor Alan please visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alanwebbcbp
Alan is also looking for someone that would be able to give a lift to a few cyclists (not bikes) on Sunday at 8am from Haslingfield to Sawtry. If you can help, please contact Alan (
