Dear <<First Name>>,

We're so pleased you joined Berkshire Opera Festival for our recently completed 2022 season. We hope you enjoyed hearing some of your favorite BOF performers who returned to the Berkshires to be with us this season, as well as being introduced to the names, faces, and voices of singers making their BOF debuts.

Our 2022 season performances included two concerts: an all-Mozart concert titled "Mid-Winter Mozart" featuring BOF fan favorite Maria Valdes (2018’s Rigoletto and 2021’s Glory Denied) and Alex McKissick at Saint James Place (Great Barrington); and our annual free concert, this year called “High on the Ramparts: A Spotlight on Music of Black Composers” performed at Pittsfield's Berkshire Museum with Joshua Blue (Don Ottavio in 2022’s Don Giovanni) and Kearstin Piper Brown, fresh off her starring role in the world premiere of Intimate Apparel at Lincoln Center.

In July, BOF expanded our regional footprint when we partnered with PS21/ Performance Spaces for the 21st Century in nearby Chatham, NY, for a new production of Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer’s Three Decembers. This opera, which premiered in 2008, is quickly becoming a modern-day classic for its exquisite, highly-accessible music and thoughtful exploration of complex family relationships. Boston Musical Intelligencer wrote of our artists: It would be hard to imagine a better cast of singers, both for their vocal abilities and their acting.”

Finally, we returned to Great Barrington for the mainstage production of our season, Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Presented August 20 - 26 at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, this rescheduled production from our canceled 2020 season proved that good things come to those who wait. In The Spotlight noted that “each member of this diverse ensemble cast is outstanding,” and Seen & Heard International declared our “powerfully daring production is a must-see for area opera fans.”

We thank you for supporting Berkshire Opera Festival this season by attending a performance and for being a warm and appreciative audience to our artists. Ticket sales only cover 20% of our annual budget, even in the best of times. Our ability to return to the stage each summer - ESPECIALLY after the past two difficult years - is only possible because of the generosity of patrons like you.

Please consider making a 100% tax-deductible donation before the end of our fiscal year on September 30. All gifts, large and small, are greatly appreciated and will help us successfully achieve our 2022 season fundraising goal. There are many convenient ways to give, including:
