Worship This Week

Sunday, September 11, 2022
Text: Exodus 6:5-22, 8:6-12, 9:8-17 - Noah & the Ark

14th Sunday after Pentecost
September Birthday Blessing

Worship This Sunday – Narrative Lectionary Begins!
This Sunday begins nine months with the Narrative Lectionary. We start off with the story of Noah and the Ark--and the Rainbow, the symbol of the first covenant that God makes. So many ancient cultures tell a story of a deity deciding to destroy humankind. What makes the Hebrew people's version different, and why does it still matter?

Worship with us ONSITE or ONLINE!
Find this week’s bulletin online here

Paper copies of the bulletin will be available in the sanctuary.

Find Our Worship Online
Join us on Facebook beginning at 9:20 (to enjoy the prelude; service begins at 9:30) for a LIVE stream of the service! To find us on Facebook, search “First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon, Iowa.”

SUNDAY SCHOOL NEWS
Sunday School begins this Sunday, September 11th!
Kids participating will leave the Sanctuary following Discovery Time during the morning service.
Two classes will be offered based on grade level: PreK through 2nd, and 3rd through 6th. Teachers are Kristi Karwal Clark and Jonathan Walsh.
This year both in Worship and Sunday School, we will use the Narrative Lectionary. The Narrative Lectionary follows the story of the Bible from the Old Testament through New Testament, from Genesis to Pentecost, September through May.
