Methane is an important greenhouse gas (GHG), second only to carbon dioxide (CO2) in its overall contribution to human-driven climate change. It’s also very powerful, with a warming potential around 29 times stronger than CO2 on a molecule-by-molecule basis, and it's almost certain to be a point of conversation at this year's COP27. COP26 saw the launch of the Global Methane Pledge and since then 121 nations have signed up to it, thereby agreeing to reduce their methane emissions by 30% by 2030. With the food system being one of the largest anthropogenic source of methane – even more so than oil and gas – efforts to honour this pledge will likely have implications for how agriculture is practiced; and potentially for what we eat.
This annual event is for those interested in joining Kindlings FarmStart programme, where you can find out more about the programme itself and ask any questions to our programme leads.
Event details:
Kindlings FarmStart programme runs each year, welcoming those interested in becoming an organic grower to join us at our veganic site in Stockport for a year of supported growing.
This event is aimed at those considering joining the course, rather than anyone who wants to know a bit about organic growing, and those joining us for the day will learn more about the specifics of the course, and the challenges and joys of farming, so that you can decide if this course is right for you.
Animal Rebellion activists stop milk supply in parts of England
More than 100 supporters of Animal Rebellion stopped the supply of fresh milk across large areas of England in the early hours of Sunday, including Arla Aylesbury, which processes 10% of the UK supply.
It came after the activist group, who campaign for a sustainable plant-based food system, received no response to a letter to Downing Street in August, in which they warned of disruptive action in September unless progress towards their demands was made.
Our mission is to be a world-wide movement of veganic farmers, growers, producers, consumers and supporters, which will raise awareness, influence policy and educate people about the principles and benefits of veganic agriculture.
