Upon the death of HRH Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, as president of the Canadian Association of Lutheran Congregations, I request that prayers of thanks be said for the queen—for her sense of duty to the very end and most of all for her firm and unwavering commitment to Jesus Christ. Pray for comfort for her family and all citizens of the British Commonwealth. Queen Elizabeth, now being styled Elizabeth the Great, was Sovereign of Canada for 45% of our Nation’s history!

I would suggest the singing of “God Save the King” as well as prayers of our King, HRH Charles III.

God save the King.

Queen Elizabeth II

1926-2022

The End of an Era

Elizabeth Windsor  became queen in 1953, seven years following the end of World War II.  Her reign eclipsed  that of any monarch in world history other than Louis XIV of France.

That 70-year reign ended yesterday, when Queen Elizabeth II died at 96 at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, her country estate. Her oldest son, Charles, immediately became king and will be formally crowned, as Charles III, in coming months.  Britain has begun a special 10-day period during which the Queen's body will lie in state, to allow the public to pay their respects, followed by a funeral.

The picture above was  taken on Tuesday September 6, 2022, at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, just before Queen Elizabeth received and and appointed Liz Truss as Britain’s new prime minister. Her 70-year reign has seen fifteen British prime ministers, from Second World War statesman Sir Winston Churchill to Boris Johnson, and ending with the appointment of Liz Truss. Twelve Canadian Prime Ministers, from Louis St. Laurent to Justin Trudeau, served during Queen Elizabeth's reign.

A Prayer for the new King

Gracious heavenly Father we pray that you will give His Royal Highness Charles III the grace, wisdom, strength, courage and faith to: govern the peoples of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and  all other lands and territories of the Commonwealth, according to their respective laws and customs;  to be just and merciful in all his decisions; and maintain the Laws of God and the true profession of the Gospel, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you, and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Reverend Pastors in CALC

God's grace be with you!

We thank you for your prayers to the orphans and vulnerable children.

In Rwanda, Home Orphanages are not allowed since 2012. May be you did not know.

In last year 2021 the government of Rwanda decided that every student must eat lunch at school (which means every child should the fees for this food). This became a problem to us because the orphans and children from poor families came back to us asking us if we can support them, and we did not have answer for that. And the need of tuition fees is highly needed.

Currently we have 157 children. Many children come to us seeking support, but we always refuse them because we do not have a support for them. Many of them are in Primary school and others are in Secondary school (I mean high school).

The currently needs are:
To pay tuition and other fees, to pay for Lunch(food) at school, and Notebooks, and Pens, and Pencils, and School uniforms, and shoes, and Soap, and Kinyarwanda Bibles, and children's Evangelism on Saturday, Sunday and in Holidays.

We always pray to God to offer for us a Christian Centre for these young people to help them grow more Spiritually, Intellectually and Socially.

We would be happy for you to share this with your Congregations  for prayers and to make a good network with us as they can understand our passion in this work of God. If you know a donor, you can reach him/her on our behalf. No problem you can share to them all about this work of God, those pictures, and our contact address. We need the grace of God for these children. God bless you.

Send the donations to support this nonprofit organization through the address of Victory Lutheran Church. And you write: Donation to: "Harvest of Friends and Compassion"

God bless you and God bless your families and God bless all congregations of CALC.
