October 8Rotary Leadership Institute
October 24: World Polio Day
October 27-30: Fall District Conference
November 13: Foundation Luncheon
Hello Fabulous Rotarians,

October is a busy month for all of us in so many ways. In Rotary it is the month of Economic and Community Development. It seems that is always happening in our District with all the service projects you are doing.

We have four nonprofits, grown out of our District, that impact economic and community development. They provide jobs, help those with special needs, medical needs, and veterans both locally and globally. these organizations put us on the map as a strong and robust District because they grew from us with our support. So, hats off to you and to Camp Pa Qua Tuck, General Needs, Gift of Life, and Rotocare!!! Who knows, maybe another organization may be brewing from one of your clubs.

So much is happening this month which can benefit you and your clubs. The first is Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI). It’s Saturday, October 8 at the Melville Marriott. It’s an excellent way to learn at the club level and hear from other Rotarians about what they are doing to solve the challenges. It’s $140, which when you complete the day’s program, the district will reimburse you. Sign up here https://rlinea.org

I know you don’t want to miss the District conference!!! It’s our Retreat of learning and fellowship. One of the things we will be learning is how to promote our events, when we promote our events people become curious about Rotary and then become members. Not to be missed sessions!!! Yes there will be activities from roasting marshmallows to murder mystery dinner, and a memorial service for the Rotarians that have passed. We want you there to add your own knowledge and flavor to this Retreat. We have limited number of rooms available at the special rate. Register now at https://rotary7255.org/page/fall-district-conference-oct27-30-2022/

This is the last month to register for Rotary Direct at $10 a month to receive 100 points towards a Paul Harris, plus enter the raffle to receive a Paul Harris. A Paul Harris is such a prestigious award and recognition. You may be joining the ranks of U.S. President Jimmy Carter, U.S. astronaut James Lovell, UN Secretary-General Javier Perez de Cuellar, and polio vaccine
developer Jonas Salk.

How about recognizing your most senior Rotary member in your club??? Now I’m jumping to November because we have a special Foundation Luncheon on November 13. It’s special because you can invite your most senior Rotarian, and they will be recognized at the luncheon. It’s about time we recognize these members that have been with Rotary for a long time. Yes we want new, younger members but let’s be thankful members who have stayed for years. You can register for the luncheon, and register the senior member https://www.crsadmin.com/Gen/EventPlanner/EventServices.aspxaid=50046

I hope you take the time to appreciate the beauty around us, the falling leaves, the colors, the apples, and our members, because we are all pretty amazing!

Smiles,
Sonia

We are so proud and happy to deliver to each of you the completed "Million Mask Challenge Tour" Rotary Multi-District Project Documentary. To say that this was a project of care, commitment, and compassion is an understatement. Each and every one of you played an outstanding role in delivering an unprecedented project. A project that was personal to our Rotary community in support of organizations, families, and children in need.

Our hat is off to each and every one of you who led your Rotary District, Clubs, and your communities. You were responsible for marshaling Rotary resources and delivering over 5.5 million masks throughout the six-month distribution effort to those in critical need from Manhattan to Maine.

Over 500 Rotary Clubs in 11 Districts united more than 10,000 Rotarians across 7 states during the heart of the pandemic to deliver PPE face masks to save lives. Because that's what we do.

We began planning this project on August 2, 2020. And now, more than 24 months later, the work we have accomplished seems so relevant and impactful today. Thank you for all of your hard work, and all you do for Rotary.

With deep gratitude,

Ted Rossi, Jack Solomon, and Robert Friend
