Finding Your Light to Remember and Become Who You Really Are

A RECURRING THEME:
THE PREGNANT PAUSE

I find it fascinating how, in my work, certain themes or strategies will appear and then repeat for days or weeks. September found me repeatedly talking about the pregnant pause. Let me share an example and see if it resonates with your life journey, as well.

My client could very much sense that a change was coming but had no idea what this next thing was going to be. She could tell that she wanted it and sensed that she needed it to manifest. Why wait? was her inner experience. Because it felt so wonderfully new, good, and necessary, she wanted to experience it right away. Her frustration had her wondering if she was resisting allowing this (assumed) awesome thing to happen. And if so, what was her resistance about?

I understood. In fact, I have had this same experience numerous times. It can be frustrating, and in fact if the individual is not careful, they can jump to an incorrect assumption that they are doing something wrong (or it would be here now).

Another potential error is to "force" what we think is expected. When I belonged to my women's spiritual group, we used to say: this or something better because we realized that we might otherwise inadvertently create a very narrow version of the possibility.

So, I urge my clients to sit in the space between and think of it as the pregnant pause. Men, women, and even those who have never had children, understand that for the most advantageous outcome there needs to be sufficient time for proper development. The same is true of your spiritual path. It needs time for all the pieces to line up properly so that they can indeed manifest. These pieces might include your thoughts, emotions, energy fields, other people, the environment, etc., etc. This is true whether it is for a new job, a move, a spiritual download, or a metaphysical awakening.

You might not be ready to see what is due to emerge ---- yet. But if you can be patient and allow the pieces to coalesce in their own time you will likely be delighted with the magnificent outcome. Make peace with the pregnant pause, with that space in-between.

In the world of possibility things are far more expansive than you can imagine. If you try to create the outcome as you think it's supposed to look, you might stop the process too soon, or cause it to be too narrow in reach. So, give it time. Nurture the experience and the time of waiting. Educate, ready and prepare yourself if you wish, but focus on caring for your mind, body, and spirit. And allow.

Learn to sit patiently so as not to feel the need to control the outcome. Wait.....Wonder.....Allow the light in your eyes to dance with the wonderment of possibility....How magical might this actually be if you allow your Higher Self to determine the outcome? Let's wait and see.

I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK

After September's Self-Help Techniques for Neuro-diverse and Neuro-typical Folks, I heard from long-time subscriber, T.S.:  "Hi Judith!  Happy fall to you!  This is my most favorite and timely newsletter so far.  Thanks for all you do to keep the earth rotating on its axis…and always east to west. Kudos to you my friend!"

~~~~
I love receiving feedback when I present. Here is some of the feedback received from participants after the August 30th presentation of Understand Your Sensitives: There Are No Lazy Students:
I see ways to improve overall communication with my students and helpful ways to keep calm!
Be aware of lighting and sensory issues.
I understand the empathy factor more.
Slow down when expecting responses from students.
I often view autism behaviors and ADHD behaviors as psychological/intellectual. It's good to [see how it is] located in the body.
I will intentionally create a calmer environment.
Techniques and ideas exist to "re-awaken natural inquisitiveness".
I have been passionate about several of the things you spoke about for awhile, but now I have the words and tools to understand and speak about them.
I believe that it is our duty as humans to learn more about each other and understand each other so that future generations will be successful in life and an educational setting. I know that I want to accomplish and learn more by furthering my education on these principles and knowledge. I continue to remind myself that everything can't be learned all at once, and there is more to still be discovered.
AND YOUR QUESTIONS
Q:  When you taught about anxiety you mentioned F.E.A.R. What is that acronym again?
A: Years ago, I learned that FEAR stands for False Evidence Appearing Real. Recently I saw an alternate meaning: Face Everything and Rise. Both are excellent!! But as I shared during the presentation, my all time favorite came from a 17 year old high school student whose panic was so extreme that she couldn't always attend her classes. As I taught her about the acronym FEAR she started chuckling. She finally admitted that in her mind, FEAR must stand for F*** (eff) Everything and Run.
Q:  What is misophonia?
A:  It is not irritability, but rather a response of anger and anxiety, often as a result of physical distress, to certain sounds. If you deal with misophonia, explain to others that your reactions aren’t conscious choices. Try also not to blame the other person for their role (i.e.: breathing or chewing too loudly). What’s happening isn’t their fault, and asking them to be quieter probably won’t help because these reactions tend to occur regardless of how loud they are. This article in the New York Times can tell you more. If you can’t open New York Times articles, here are the two links that the author recommends for support. Misophonia Education and Soquiet.org,
Incidentally, I understand that the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) developed by Dr. Stephen Porges addresses misophonia as well as helping individuals to regulate their nervous systems. I am looking forward to being trained in SSP in the coming months.
QUOTES
Being curious requires an active choice when you encounter something you didn't know, or that doesn't match your worldview. Do I just assume this is something I already knew? Do I assume that something bad has happened and I need to be afraid and hide? Or do I want to be curious and explore?
Charan Ranganath
Two little words we don't pay enough attention to: over and next. When something is over, it is over and we are on to next. And I like to think about the hammock in the middle of those two words. That's living in the moment. That's the moment I believe I'm living as I complete this sentence. And it couldn't be more important to me.
Norman Lear
The more I am able to be, the more I am able to become. I don’t believe in fake it til you make it, I believe that you be it until you become it.
PARENTING AN AUTISTIC CHILD
I love how this article points out all the wonderful reasons to love ASD children. The part that really encouraged me to share it here is the section on carer burnout, which is good for professionals to watch for in their families, and so that parents can watch for burnout in themselves. The article also offers strategies for parents and carers to alleviate burnout.
SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH ASD IN THE CLASSROOM
Whether you are an educator or a parent, Attwood and Garnett are great resources for all things related to autism. Here are two articles to help ASD students to thrive in the classroom. Part 1. Part 2.
