Worldwide 4-Day Public Auction
Sale Date: September 15-18, 2022

Oakwood Auctions is proud to announce its "September Stamps & Coins- 4-DAY Auction" starting September 15 to September 18. Each day will begin at 11:00am EST. There will be a great offering of philatelic material, and every collector or dealer will find something of interest. There will be quality Canada, US, Great Britain, and British Commonwealth collections/accumulations, as well as rarer singles, accompanied by many other countries, including a fantastic collection of China Local Post.

DAY 1 - (Lots 1-500) will contain coins/banknotes/supplies, Rest of the World from Africa to worldwide collections. There will be better offerings of Denmark, France and Colonies, Germany and States, Italy, and Luxembourg.

DAY 2 - (Lots 501-1050) will contain Rest of the World, from Poland to Yugoslavia, and British Commonwealth from Aden to Turks & Caicos. There are some great collections/accumulations from Russia, South America, Sweden, and quite strong in Switzerland. Commonwealth is highlighted by Australia and States, Bermuda including a 1930 #95a 2sh 6p Pale Orange Vermillion and Black, Grey-Blue MLH, and much more.

DAY 3 - (Lots 1051-1554) will contain Canada from First Pence to Face Value, including early Canada and Newfoundland proofs/specimens, Great Britain collections/accumulations, including 1929 Imprimateurs, quality mint Victoria, highlighted by a mint 1877 Vertical Pair of the 5 Pound Telegraph Colour Trial.

DAY 4 - (Lots 1555-1957) will be very exciting as it contains China Locals and USA. In the Locals collection there are some rare imperf in-betweens, inverted surcharges, larger multiples, and more. The US section contains many collections/accumulations, as well as better singles including original gum examples of the 1847 #1 5c Red Brown, as well as the 1893 #245 $5 Black.

Sam Houston Philatelics next auction will close on September 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM, Central Time. The sale contains over 630 lots, with material in all price ranges and something for everyone, collectors and dealers alike. A few of the highlights include the following:
  • UNITED STATES, There are (123) U.S. lots with (41) lots of many nice Classics, Pictorials and Banknotes highlighted by: a very decent Scott #2, Scott #26 VF NH, #120 XF Used and #205 F-VF NH. There are a couple Columbian lots with a F-VF NH 3¢ #232. There are a few Exposition lots (11), with some nice Trans-Mississippi lots. There are (32) lots of Washington/Franklins and late 1920s issues, including about four graded (XF and XF-Superb) and a White Plains Souvenir Sheet of 25. The 1930 to Date section offers (18) lots for perusal with (11) graded, including four GEM's.
  • COVERS, There are about (70) Cover lots with (21) Commercial selections, including a round flight cover franked with C13-15 Graf Zeppelin Issue, (2) C18 Century of Progress Zeppelin flight covers, and a 1998 All-Star game souvenir cover. There are (48) First Day Covers that includes three of the four 1st Day of the experimental pre-cancel Christmas stamp from Atlanta, Baltimore and Memphis, plus other interesting issues like #2419 - $2.40 Moon Landing with Pugh hand-painted cachet.
  • AIRMAIL AND BACK OF BOOK ISSUES, Contains (54) total lots, with (26) Airmails. A major highlight is the Buffalo Balloon VF-XF unused semi-official stamp (with two APEX certificates); and (28) Back of Book issues, that includes some nice Special Delivery and Official selections, and a couple scarce Schermack Private vending. Also, there are about 1/2 dozen Local stamps from which to choose.
  • ERRORS, FREAKS & ODDITIES, (8) Lots of EFO's are offered. A variety of misperfs, different shades and color shifts, under inking, etc. Great selection that includes 6¢ Waterfowl Conservation and 15¢ John Paul Jones error lots. Good variety.
  • GENERAL FOREIGN & COLLECTIONS, (113) lots with a nice selection of sets and singles from countries "B to V" including Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, India, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands and Colonies, Russia, Surinam, Switzerland, and Venezuela. There are (5) U.S. collections one of which is a Transcendental Arts Council FDC collection with other World Wide and Topical lots; ex: a Beatles collection, and Bicycles and Black Heritage topicals. Take a close look at these various collections! There are some really nice and rare lots here!
  • AUTOGRAPHS & MISCELLANEOUS, There is (1) Autograph lot; the signature of Auguste Piccard on Belgium #252. Also, there is a very interesting duck related item by Russell A. Fink. It is a book of the master etchings of waterfowl and gamebirds, by Richard E. Bishop. This is a really nice bonded leather book, which would be a great display item in a home library, on a coffee table, or on the desk in your office!
  • DUCK AND CONSERVATION STAMPS, PRINTS (Federal, Junior and State) contains about (224) lots. There are (8) collections of various combinations, (26) Plate Number Single lots and (74) lots of Federal singles, Plate Blocks and several Graded issues. You'll find (3) Mini-Sheet lots and (5) Press Sheet offerings. There (21) Error lots. Also, we have (14) Artist Signed Federal stamps. A variety of State and Foreign duck stamps (27), with a couple of scarce or rare issues, and (13) Governor's Editions, several Governor or artist hand-signed. Also, there are (8) Conservation related stamp lots. To finish the sale, we have (7) Federal prints - (2) 1st Editions RW13 and RW39; and (4) Medallion issues; RW52, RW53, and RW56 with RW55 being a Silver and Gold medallion issue.
