Official Recognition of the ASV Infirmary

In July 2022, American School of Valencia received the recognition of “Health Center” for the ASV Infirmary. This is an official validation granted by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Conselleria de Sanitat that states that our school infirmary has the facilities and equipment required for medical care as well as that its operating protocols meet the standards of this type of service.

ASV has been a pioneer school in Spain in the implementation of the school infirmary service. By the end of the 90s, ASV decided to have dedicated staff to provide immediate health care. The ASV Infirmary Office has grown up to have two specific spaces on campus (the infirmary and the isolation room), full-time staff, and professional management tools. Throughout the academic year, over 5,000 requests -mainly minor incidents and indispositions- are processed. The school nurses are also in charge of chronic illnesses protocols, control of allergies and food intolerances, the school health programs (hygiene, oral health, puberty...) or training of our staff in first-aid, and the use of defibrillators (as the school has three devices).

During the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 academic years, the ASV Infirmary led the implementation of the COVID protection measures, the management of positive cases and the de-escalation and return to pre-pandemic normality.

The current ASV Infirmary team is made up of the ASV nurse, Ms. Inma Requena, and an additional nurse, Ms. Silvia Chamorro, who works for School Nurses, a new ASV partner. School Nurses is providing a valuable experience and new management tools for the service. The ASV Infirmary has also joined the Spanish Scientific Association for School Health.

We wish to thank the entire school community for their support and collaboration with our infirmary service team.

These small group sessions held on Tuesday and Wednesday provided a chance to meet the homeroom teachers and learn more about the learning goals for each grade level in 2022-2023.  The event replaces the virtual Parents Night organized in 2020 and 2021.

First Day of Classes

Classes began on Thursday, September 8, 2022. In Elementary School, teachers had a varied and fun schedule to give a warm welcome to all of our students. They included group introduction activities, class set up, special games and handicrafts and practice of the PBIS expectations. Regular lessons started on Friday.

Regular lessons started on Friday although specific periods were assigned to hand out textbooks and allow students to organize their lockers.  ⬇️

Renewed Middle School Facilities

Our school has renovated the Middle School facilities in order to accommodate the recent Grades 7 and 8 expansions. The construction started in July and has been focused on the lower atrium and two former changing rooms located next to Park B.

After this work, students in Middle School and some High School classes are enjoying four new classrooms equipped with interactive screens, wireless internet connection, and flexible seating.  Classrooms 50 and 51 are accessible through the renovated atrium; classrooms 57 and 58 have their entrances in Park B and the second one will be our brand-new music classroom.

Additional space in the atrium has been used to improve the Information and Technology Office and Ms. Isabel Castro’s office.

Middle School and Highs School Parents Nights

Families of students in Middle School and High School are invited to attend the Parents Night as follows:
  • Wednesday, September 21, 2022: Middle School Parent Night
  • Wednesday, September 28, 2022: High School Parent Night
The event offers an overview of the academic goals in each grade level and the specific organization of each course your child is taking.  It will be held at the school campus.

University Orientation

USA / Plan your child’s PSAT and SAT test dates:

An important piece of university preparation is taking college admissions exams.Follow this link to read the explanation of the different test options.  The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) / National Merit Qualifying Test is a practice test for the SAT and can also qualify grade 11 students with a U.S passport for National Merit scholarships. As it is an optional test at ASV, please fill out this form if your child in Grade 10 or 11 wants to take this test in October 25th, 2022
Here are some links to practice for the test: It is a good idea to plan your testing dates with consideration for academics, activities, time for test preparation and taking the test a second time (statistics say that the majority of test-takers do better the second time). It is typically recommended to take the test at least once in the spring of Junior year and once in the Fall of Senior year (if necessary).

Discuss with Ms Veronica if you should take any of these tests and how they could benefit you.
Sign up and prepare for the tests you've decided to take:

SAT test dates at ASV:  October 1, 2022. December 3, 2022. May 06, 2023.

ASV Alumni

Successful Admission Process of the ASV Class of 2022

Year after year, ASV graduates succeed in the process of selecting and applying for Spanish, American and international universities. The school invites each graduating class to stay in touch and let us know which university studies they are finally taking.  By September 10, we can proudly report that 24 members of the Class of 2022 have been accepted by international universities.

If you know graduates who have not shared information about their life after ASV, please invite them to contact Ms. Veronica Cinosi, our University Counselor.
