SOVEREIGN HARBOUR YACHT CLUB
NEWSLETTER
THIRTY - SEVEN

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty The Queen. For over seventy years she has dedicated her life to service for her country and the Commonwealth, and been a figurehead of national unity and stability at a time of enormous change.

All at Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club send our heartfelt condolences to King Charles III and all of the Royal Family.

If any members would like to visit the club and join with others on Monday 19th September, the day of the funeral, the club will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

We plan to broadcast the funeral on the TV for members to watch as they wish.

The kitchen will not be open but feel free to bring your own snacks if required.

A hugely successful day last Saturday.
The overall winners were Freddie, Roy, Rob and Steve.
The longest drive was from Kevin Ticehurst.
And the nearest pin was from Chris Brooks.

Dead Calm began life in 1996 from the ashes of The Lost Boys. They are an extremely well received band from Hastings that plays really great rock and prog rock covers from ELO, Pink Floyd to rock songs from Led Zepplin and David Bowie. Their set also includes classic and contemporary pop covers with a splattering of soul.

Trafalgar Dinner is a tradition of all proper Yacht Clubs and this year we are refreshing the whole event, whilst maintaining the traditional format.

It makes for an evening of fun, music and enjoyment in which we have a good meal, some traditional drinks and celebrate in this poignant year the history-changing victory of the British Royal Navy.

Your ticket price includes: -

The event to be held in our Royal Sovereign Suite, named remember, after the first ship to fire in anger at the battle, is lit by candles and decked out to resemble dinner aboard a ship of the line.

On arrival, enjoy an exotic Half Nelson Cocktail, a secret recipe using the ingredients that made Nelson’s Royal Navy great.

Take your seats for a four course meal, during which you can enjoy music, hilarity and some toasts. This year for the first time we will be toasting His Majesty.

Port will be on the tables to be ‘passed’ in the traditional way.

Dress code is Black Tie or Uniform for men and floor length dress or formal cocktail dress for ladies. Decorations may be worn.
