Hey there.

I hope you've had a great week.

The first semester of my masters has just started, and we're off to the races. This semester is about Internet, which I'm thrilled about, as it's my favorite area to do Software Engineering.

I've also bought some camera equipment, so I can get back to creating YouTube videos. I'm super excited for that! Already have one in the works.

What I've made for you

ThreadLearn Dataview for Obsidian in 3 minutes.
A short guide to the basics of Dataview, one of the most useful Obsidian plugins.

Mental Models I'm Using

Via Negativa

Nassim Nicholas Taleb on Via Negativa in Skin in the Game:

“Via negativa: the principle that we know what is wrong with more clarity than what is right, and that knowledge grows by subtraction. Also, it is easier to know that something is wrong than to find the fix. Actions that remove are more robust than those that add because addition may have unseen, complicated feedback loops.”

When in doubt, subtract.
We cut away the excess, we discern signal from noise.

Essentialism by Greg Mckeown is a great example of this (book notes coming soon!).

And so is this beautiful quote:

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.
— Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

PS. Have you read the story of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry? It's very interesting.

Reciprocity

You reap what you sow. You get back what you give.
For every action, there is a reaction. The best way to get something is to deserve it.

This is also known as the Golden Rule: treat others as you want to be treated.

Quote

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
— Bruce Lee
